Hi, It would be great if one could distinguish/split in the contacts files upload between permanent (etc customer registration, Credit application) and annual etc(statements) documents

Contacts - Trigger Manual entry warning after save & close
When I am manually entering a contact bank account number, I find it disconcerting to be warned to enter the bank account number after I leave the BSB code field. But I HAVE to leave the BSB code field in order to move to the Bank account number field! Leaving the BSB field is not a mistake!
I think the warning would be better triggered if you attempt to click on 'Save & close' without completing both fields.2 votes -

Recent Bills report - Reinstate "View recent bills report"
The "View recent bills report" functionality on a Contact page has changed since the new reporting was deployed this week. Previously, if you clicked on the link you would see a nice list of all approved bills for that vendor whether paid or not. This functionality has now changed and is effectively useless. Yes, you can get the same info by going into Business/bills to pay but that it is more clunky. Thank you.

Contact Groups - Ability to set defaults to be applied per group
It would be extremely helpful to be able to assign a range of default settings to either individual contacts, or to contact groups, such as:
- invoice template
- billing cycle (((would also be great to get variable billing cycles as a feature!))
- currencywe have a fair amount of customer hierarchy, which we've been able to somewhat address with contact groups.. but the fundamental lack of configurable options after the group is designated feels hugely wasted.

Contacts - Receive payment from customer contact page
I am on a customer page and it shows that they currently owe for two open invoices. I would like to be able to click on the button Open Invoices and have the option to receive payment for those open invoices without having to leave the customer page. Currently I have to go to 1. Business 2. invoices 3. Awaiting Payment 4. Scroll through ALL open invoices (no filter even?), 5. Select the invoices I want to receive payment on 6. Select Deposit. Why not just go straight to the customer's open invoices and receive payment?

Files - Separate locations for contact related documents vs financial related documents
Where can I attach contact related documents vs financial related documents, as it appears there is only one document file upload location now. When there were options to keep these separate previously. It is all very well making updates and changes to the system in order for things to be quicker and more efficient but when this means, loosing previously used facilities, this is very frustrating. Keeping these different related documents apart has been very important previously and so now these all being stored together will mean things our end take longer and are less efficient for the end user.…

Contacts - Seperate customer mailing lists
Ability to select different mailing lists for 1 customer. This will be useful when you have different projects for the same supplier.

Contact | Merge - Retain contact and financial details
It would be really helpful when merging suppliers if there was an option to keep all contact and financial details with the updated contact. When an existing supplier joins Xero and starts sending Xero generated invoices that you can upload to Xero if the name is even slightly different it creates a new supplier. This could be as basic as Ltd vs Limited. When these contacts are merged all the existing information is deleted and needs to be re-entered. An option to keep all existing contact information would be great.

Contacts - Reinstate the email feed
The email feed on clients account activity needs reinstating. If people send a quote mid communication via email rather than on xero or someone emails in a query about an invoice this is now getting lost rather than recorded on their account!
PLEASE REINSTATE this was essential for credit control and communication between team members regarding clients!

Reporting - Expenses by contact report option to filter i.e supplier addresses/location/postal code
Broken down to location/ postal code with the total cost for a contact/supplier in any period is needed.
I am aware 'the expenses by contact' gives you the total spend in a year but this doesn't filter down to location/ addresses or post code. At year end a key part of our process is reporting local suppliers for our social impact and purpose, we have to complete a time consuming exercise entering addresses/location manually line by line for key suppliers in excel. Hi not sure if it is available, but can you add WhatsApp to clients? It would be great if one can email and WhatsApp client invoices and statements, directly from the online portal.

All Contacts vs Customers and Suppliers
It's so frustrating to go looking for a customer when you know they are on the system but you just can't find them. However, if you look in All Contacts, they are there.
I know that Xero is meant to mark them as a Customer if a sale transaction is entered against that account or as a Supplier if a bill is allocated to them.
However, we have had instances of customers with no bills against their record - only sales invoices but they still can't be found in customers.4 votesHI Alec, you're right that contacts in Xero are classified by the type of transactions that are entered for them.
Something doesn't quite sound right there with the example you've mentioned? Is it possible the contact has had receive money transactions entered rather than sales invoices? If so this would cause them to not appear under Customer.
Another option if you'd like to manage customer and supplier groups yourself would be to add new contact groups that you can then attach individual contacts too in your org - More in our help here
If you're having trouble working out why the contact is appearing in one list over another it'd be good to approach our specialists for help who can get access to your org and dig into the history of a contact you're having trouble locating.

Customer Statements - Transaction History Option
Please can Xero consider adding a Customer Statement option that shows payments as totals (not splits per invoice allocation) as found on the bank statement.
Many businesses have customer accounts that are paid towards or caught up regularly in round bulk amounts that do not neatly match individual invoices.
In these cases customers getting statements showing their payments as splits cannot easily or intuitively see the amounts that they paid on specific dates.In dealing with queries ourselves we find that many customers find the Activity Statement format frustrating or confusing, especially when we have to capture part of a…
7 votesHi Jessica, it'd take some customisation of the Statement advanced docx. template but it is possible to remove fields from showing that may cause confusion or are unnecessary for your customers.
You could look at removing the 'PaidAmount' field if this is not required and just keep the 'Balance' and 'Amount' fields.
There's a discussion over in Xero Central where there are others in community who often help with making changes ti advanced templates and maybe of help here.

Contacts - View accepted Quotes
When you view a contact, you are able to see outstanding invoices and quotations from this contact. But it will be helpful to see quotations that have been accepted by this contact to make invoicing easier.

Contacts - Form to request & capture details of a new customer or supplier
I have a client who is wanting to set up a vendor and queried about the ability to send a form to the potential vendor with information required directly from Xero

Settings - Notification of settings change
There needs to be an automatic email notification sent to users when a financial setting is changed. Our gst number was changed and we had no idea until we manually spotted the change.

Contacts - Secure method of requesting contact bank account details
Have an "Ask" type of function within the business subscription to securely collect new Customer and new Supplier information when creating a new Contact. Particularly keen to be able to collect Bank Account details securely without needing to risk email communication of same. This feature would also ensure better accuracy of contact details and spelling of names.
