  1. Change the Alternate Holiday accrual to days not hours. Legally when someone works on a statutory holiday they get to accrue 1 days alternate holiday, which is the hours that they would normally work when they take the day off, not the hours they worked on the stat day. It's misleading putting in hours instead of days, especially if every day if not an 8 hour day. Reports need to be run every time an Alternate Holiday is taken to ensure they still have that day available.

    Hi Mandy, this is something our team are working on at present.

    Currently, any new businesses that have started using Xero Payroll from 5 August 2024 will have the ability to set up employee leave entitlements to show alternate holiday leave in days. While we're still working on changes to enable this for existing organisations we'll keep you updated of when this is made available here.

  2. There is currently only one default setting for NI contributions to be made to. It is though necessary to separate out employee and director costs. Even direct employees and overhead categorised employees. Other pay items allow postings to different ledger accounts but not NI deductions. Would just save a lot of manual journal posting to correct payroll run postings.

  5. It would be very useful to have a report that shows at a glance when each employee last had a pay rise. Like an extra column in the Employee Remuneration Report. Or an audit report that shows the history of pay changes for all employees in one place.

  6. Would be great if the days per week and the hours per day could be for each day rather than a total amount. Sarah does a total of 30 hours per week
    Monday - 0hours
    Tuesday - 6 hours
    Wed- Fri - 8 hours per day
    but because we cant specify what days we have had to go 4 days per week with total hours per day 7.5. This is confusing to look at but we also have to remember when it is a public holiday to change it. Would be good if we could specify the hours worked per…

    Hi everyone, you can now create new working patterns for employees which allow you to add in the specific days and hours they are contracted to work!

    This improves the default hours used in calculations around public holidays, leave requests, the first pay, the last pay and when working patterns change during the pay period. Thanks again for all your feedback on this here.

  8. I would like the payroll reports to be able to be sorted by first name or last name. I sue them for a number of reporting requirements with third parties and it would make it so much easier if I was able to do this.

  9. As we don't have the ability to turn off automatic posting of payroll, can you add nominal codes for ER NI & ER Pension, other analysis fields to employees records rather than at Company level to allow easier analysis and posting of payroll journal.
    There is a field on the employee record to enter the nominal code for their wages cost so why can't there be more fields for different codes?

    Hey everyone, we've been making some changes to improve NZ Payroll for Xero users.

    If you're just getting started with Xero (from 5 August 2024) you can now set up the Sick leave entitlement date for an employee.

    We know people in the idea here are existing payroll users and we can assure you we're working to also develop this for existing customers. There are a few more intricacies to work through from what already exists to the new. I'll be back to share when there's more news on this and when you can get access to this too. Thanks

  11. I look after a business that has been advised by the ATO that their PAYG has cycle has changed & they must remit the PAYG tax to ATO within 7 days of each payrun. This means we currently have to make a manual payment for PAYG to the ATO each week, more if there there happens to be an extra pay run for some reason. Payroll software we use for other clients in the same sitiatuon has the functionality to include the PAYG payment with the ABA file for the payrun, which means everyting is automated.   12. We want to be able to open and complete the employees draft timesheet, if it has already been started. We have enough to do without starting again from scratch what the employee may have already done but just not clicked the submit button.

    It is idiotic that, as the owner and payroll manager, that we cannot see an employee's draft timesheets.

    As the business owner and Payroll Admin, we should:

    • not have compromise our recordkeeping by putting hours directly into the pay slip.
    • not have to rely on our employees being available to correct the timesheet at any point in…

  13. We have requested Downloadable P11's to be made available so we can correct a mistake a previous Xero payroll provider made.
    This is not available in Xero which is causing considerable inconvenience and a lot more manual work.

    This would be a really good idea if this was brought into the payroll package.

  14. UK Payroll - it would be handy to be able to mark P32 amounts due as paid or dealt with. Just helps to visual see where you are in the list of reports and keep on top of due payments.

  15. It would be great to have read-only access to payroll - all of it - for auditors.
    They need access to the staff files, the individual transactions and the reports - as they have with the rest of the business.

  16. I would like a subscription option for a "super only" payroll for 20+ contractors. I do not need all the payroll functions as these are contractors who I pay from an invoice, but I do need to pay their super. There is absolutely no need for me to pay for the top tier payroll subscription, when we only have 2 people actually on payroll, but 20+ people who we need to pay super to.

Need to be able to accumulate annual leave and sick leave when an employee has to rates of pay for example: working in two departments - one pay 24.50hr and the other department pays $24.17hr, currently Xero does not accumulate pay on multiple ordinary hours pay rates, one has to be and overtime rate using multiple of hours how can you do this for a rate with a difference of 33c. I also have the same issue with an employee who works week days at one rate, saturdays at another rate and sundays at a third rate. - I have…

  18. Please allow timesheet approval as a sub option to payroll admin in the user set up, similar to "invoice only" option in the business and accounting setup. We have employees on labour hire contracts that need to submit their hours to the client supervisor for approval so that we can get paid. We want to be able to add the client rep without giving them full access to payroll. The only current work around is to add them as as a "Contractor - Non Employee" in Xero Payroll

  19. When entering information on time sheets for employees, the ability to hit "next" to move onto the next employee once you have approved the time sheet rather than having to go back out to the main timesheet menu, find the appropriate timesheet on the drop down list & go back in to enter the timesheet for the next employee.
