  1. REQUESTING LEAVE
    Firstly, when an employee is submitting a leave application, they are unable to adjust the number of hours they are taking when submitting this leave when the leave period is for more than one day. This is problematic for part-time employees that may work different hours on different days of their working week.

    Also, employees used to be able to see the number of hours taken but this is no longer the case - why is this?

    Hi everyone, appreciate we haven't engaged directly in this idea sooner and reading through the detail of the original post here we do want to break this down a little to provide more clarity.

    It's correct that currently it's not possible to enter a number of hours leave if the request spans more than a day. We have another idea that's gathering support around this and we'd urge those interested in this to join.

    Similarly, we have another idea based around the permission to approve or decline leave request and provide read-only access to Payroll reports that you can support, here.

    Understanding the importance around being able to see history of events in payroll, you may have noticed we've rolled out payroll history to the employee record-level and most recently you can now see a history of user activity in the Organisation, Calendars, Pay Items, Superannuation & STP Settings…

  2. Currently under employees leave tab you can assign default leave types, but you can't define what the default leave types are.
    Perhaps there is a simple checkbox for leave items in the payroll settings that allows you to choose.
    Currently I have 4 leave types set as default, when I only really need two.

    Hi everyone, I'm changing this idea to Delivered! 🥳

    Leave types can be defined as default when a value in the 'Normal Entitlement' field in Payroll settings is entered.

    To remove this leave type from being added each time a new employee is entered, you can:

    1. Click into Payroll, then select Payroll settings
    2. Click Pay Items tab, then Leave
    3. Click on a Leave Type that you'd like to remove as a Default Leave Type
    4. Remove the number of units the employee is entitled to each year under 'Normal Entitlement'
    5. Click Save
  3. Bring back leave date function in employee history list, it made running P45s much easier when there is a team that run payroll.

  4. Currently there’s no functionality in Xero to run an IAS without the GST Accounting Method set up.
    Suggest a feature request that allows you to prepare the activity statement regardless of the entity being registered for GST or not.

  5. It would be great to be able to remove past employees from the drop-down menus when generating Payroll reports. This would be particularly helpful for businesses who employ a lot of staff members, especially if there's a high churn rate.

  6. It would be great if the employee group was included in the payroll reports. The company I am working for requires the employee ID (or employee group) to be displayed in the reports along side the name of the employee. Or if Xero could create a new field that has the employee ID number so that it is displayed in all payroll reports.

  7. When looking at Bills to Pay that are in Draft, we review the bill and approve. We then end up on the approved/awaiting payment bill screen. To get back to the next Draft bill to pay, we need to select "Bills to Pay" from the breadcrumb nav, then select back onto the Draft tab and finaly select the next bill.

    It would be good to have an option of "Approve" where we can directly go to the next draft bill to manage.

    Hey everyone, thanks for this suggestion.

    Now when you're reviewing a Draft bill, you can click the drop-down next to Approve, and select 'Approve & view next', to take you to the next bill instead of returning to the list. Screenshot attached for reference. Enjoy! 😊 

  8. My suggestions is that automated super should be available if a Xero package offers payroll, like the starter package and the Standard package - its near impossible for clients to make direct super payments for employees (even for business owners themselves) without using this feature.

    With the increases in subscriptions occurring in September I think an upgrade with automated super should be tabled for the lower subscription packages.

  9. Could we have the ability to update timesheets each payrun from and excel spreadsheet.
    This is so that admin staff can data enter timesheet information without necessarily having access to the payroll system. This is also in the case of Company's who do not want the Xero Me function.

    With improvements to XeroMe our intention is to make it simpler for employees to self enter this sort of information. 

    Is there a particular reason why you'd prefer not to use this function? Would be good to be able to share this back with our team or perhaps there's another idea I could be connecting you in with here 

  10. Show the "Timesheets to Approve" section in Payroll Overview (NZ).

  11. Remove the feature of 'Other Previous Earnings', or an option of allowing us to choose whether to have this feature. Grouping all previous pay items into 'Other Previous Earnings' in the same financial year is confusing and our employees won't understand what it is for. Please get rid of it!

  12. Xero should reduce Ordinary hours below nil when leave requests are input for the current/previous weeks if the total leave exceeds normal ordinary hours. Eg FT employee 38hrpw is off all current week on leave in addition to 7.6hrs for a day last week not previously processed. Currently, in this situation Xero will not reduce Ordinary hours below Nil and would pay the employee 45.6hours as leave. A manual adjustment is needed to reduce Ordinary hours to minus 7.6hrs to correctly pay the employee.

  13. Please allow timesheet approval as a sub option to payroll admin in the user set up, similar to "invoice only" option in the business and accounting setup. We have employees on labour hire contracts that need to submit their hours to the client supervisor for approval so that we can get paid. We want to be able to add the client rep without giving them full access to payroll. The only current work around is to add them as as a "Contractor - Non Employee" in Xero Payroll

  15. Payroll Employee Summary Report

    Is there a way to have this report show the actual period the wages are for? Currently the report shows "for the period 17 April 2024 to 17 April 2024, which is the date the payroll is paid. BUT the period is actually for 10 April 2024 to 16 April 2024.

  16. Would it be possible to amend Xero settings, so that if you run a balance sheet to the end of February, the comparatives are also run to the end of previous month?

    In February, my current month balance sheet is run to 28 February (Xero's choice) and Xero decides that means I also want to see the comparatives run to 28 January as a default setting.

    As many month-end journals are posted to, say, 31 January, the balance doesn't include them.

    Sorry Karen, not quite sure what's going on with your report there but I'd recommend coming into our specialists at Xero Support to have a closer look at your report settings.

    Running for the full period of the month is the default so it should pick up all days for the month comparatives you're running the report for.

    I've attached a test from the demo org - Setting the Date to 28 Feb, with compare for 2 months the report shows me the full months with columns for 31 Jan and 31 Dec.

  17. Currently you are able to select the tax scale Horticultural/Shearers but there is no default tax rate attached. Apparently if employee falls under this scale you need to select for reporting to ATO which means you have to then manually calculate tax when you do the pays which is not possible if you have multiple employees knowing which employee wants what rate as they all do not use the default. This also leads to errors if not picked up it doesnt calculate automatically. May I suggest that we urgently attention to have the def…

  18. We pay our employees under the Electrical award which includes several compulsory 'All Purpose' allowances that are now reported separately as per STP2. Why are these allowances excluded from an employee's annual salary on their payslip? They used to be included as part of their base hourly rate - therefore included in their annual salary and as such, should still be included in 'annual salary'. Can you please have the option to 'include in annual salary' when setting up Allowance categories in the pay items?

  20. Hi I need a detailed report like the Payroll transaction list report that also includes the account code the amount was posted too. I want to reconcile the journal posting to the Indvidual's so i can see who is incorrectly setup.
