  1. To have an account overdue notice pop up on invoice screen once customer name is entered. If a customer has an outstanding account - the reminder and amount overdue to pop up as a bit of a warning to the owner whether they should be continuing to do business with this customer, or at least until the account is settled. (I believe reckon account have this feature available and at my previous employment we found this to be most useful)

  2. Invoicing - increase the number of invoices that can be sent on the Ignite Plan or have another plan between the ignite and grow plans that allows more invoices to be sent and bills to be entered without the current extras in the grow plan. The jump up in cost between these plans is too much.

We need this functionality setting up as a matter of urgency.

Thanks for raising the idea with us. Our team are aware of the mandate of eInvoicing for Germany. While we don't have immediate work planned at this stage our plan is to support any Peppol-enabled region in the long term and we are paying close attention to the interest from users on this idea. We'll be sure to update of any progress surrounding this for you, here.

The mandate currently states "The new legal regulation currently contains no specifications for the electronic transmission of electronic invoices. An email inbox should therefore initially be sufficient to receive an electronic invoice."

Based on this, currently with Xero an eInvoice could be received by using our Email to bills service, or by including the invoice as an attachment and sending to your organisation's Files library. On agreement with your suppliers you could share your bills, or files library email with them so…

  6. HMRC's guidance on invoices in currencies other than GBP, found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/foreign-currency-transactions-vat-and-tour-operators lists specific requirements that need to be met when creating an invoice in a currency other than GBP, namely:
    1. "the total net value of goods and services at each VAT rate" needs to be shown in GBP (as well as in the foreign currency)"
    2. "the amount of VAT, if any, at each rate" needs to be shown in GBP (as well as in the foreign currency)"
    3. the currency conversion for VAT purposes needs to be calculated in one of the following two ways:

Hi all, apologies we've not responded here before now. Checking in with our team on this our current invoice templates do accommodate what's needed here.

With the standard invoice template you can select to 'Show currency conversion as' 'Net amounts with tax totals', which display a currency conversion table with the net amounts and tax grouped by tax rates or tax components. A base currency equivalent is also included. You can see more information on displaying currency conversion on Xero Central.

We also provide a highly customisable DOCX invoice template that can be used to provide more detail if you choose.

  7. Import the sales invoices to Xero with the PDFs being attached to the invoice automatically. I understand we can import sales invoices through CSV files but to provide relative documents to customers, we need to attach pdf manually. Would be great if this could be possible. This action can save time and possible error of attaching a wrong pdf.

Appreciate the interest in the idea here. Being open with a lot of work focused on iterating and adding features to new invoicing atm we don't have plans for this in the short-term. We'll continue to track the interest of the idea and if there is any change to share we'll update you here.

Good news team, quick view is out and this is now available to everyone. As you'll see from the bills list view there is now an eye icon that shows a right side preview of your bill when clicked. To simply move from one bill to the next use the arrows above your bill view. This makes it even simpler to take bulk action on multiple bills at once without having to open and review each individually.

Thanks for your feedback and sharing with us here on how we can improve Xero for you. 🎉

  9. When you are in cash coding it would be useful to be able to add an invoice to the line before it is reconciled.
If clients do not use the bills function then attaching an invoice to a transaction is time consuming and fiddly.

  11. On the old invoices/bills I could type "18/2/23" and it would auto fill 18th February 2023. Now I have to scroll back multiple months to get there. It would be good if I could type in the date field boxes again. Specifically on "Add Payment"

We're pleased to announce that with our latest update you have the ability to directly type dates when making payments on invoices! We know this was a highly requested feature, and we appreciate everyone who voted and shared their input.

For those familiar with our Xero Central article on keyboard shortcuts, you'll be happy to know that all those shortcuts are now fully functional in this date field, as well as all other date fields throughout your invoices.

While a direct dropdown for "yesterday" isn't available, you can quickly enter the previous day's date by typing 't-1'.

As this update delivers the majority of the changes discussed in this idea, we'll now mark it as delivered.

We also heard the feedback from some users who prefer to use a full stop (.) as a date separator instead of the forward slash (/) or hyphen (-). There's a specific idea,

Hi everyone, we appreciate the interest for being able to add QR codes to invoices.

While this is something we started looking into this is not something we're developing.

To set the right expectation I'll shift this status to submitted and we can continue to track the interest here.

  14. Please put the customer's payments on the activity page so it is easier to see what payments went to which invoices. Seeing that an invoice is paid isn't enough information if the customer has questions. It would be nice to see WHICH payment is applied to an invoice.

  15. I think the invoice customisation in Xero needs a major overhaul. Many of my clients have spent considerable amounts on graphic design, but the customisation process (downloading a Word doc, editing, and uploading) is a nightmare. The standard Xero invoices are really dated (such as the Mastercard or Visa logos, the payment slip footer, font choices etc), which means the better option is to upload a customised invoice. The problem I have is that most of the fonts I've tried seem to be unavailable once uploaded to Xero, with most reverting to Times New Roman, and that's an issue that…

  16. A number of users mistakenly post lines on their sales invoices to expense nominal codes, for example when recharging their mileage to a customer they credit this to Motor Vehicle Expenses instead of using their correct Sales account code.

Most other accounts/bookkeeping packages prevent this by default by only allowing sales invoices to be posted to sales nominal codes. Xero however allows sales to go to virtually any nominal account of the user's choosing, leading to this error cropping up quite often.

Could we have a way to restrict sales invoices only being posted to sales nominal account codes?

Hi Nick, thanks for sharing your idea on preventing sales invoice lines from being posted to Overhead or Direct Cost codes. We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you.

We've reviewed your suggestion, and it's now ready to gain support from other community members.

Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how restricting sales invoices to specific nominal codes could improve their experience and help prevent errors in Xero.

  17. Option to automatically apply or allocate existing credits to future repeating invoices. When the client receives the invoice, it will be marked as a PAID invoice because the credit has been already applied in Xero. But only if they choose to apply the existing credits instead of a refund.

Purpose: Saves time in manually creating an invoice to apply for the credits

  18. Currently a client can upload a number of invoices and then create a batch payment for these invoices. When they make a payment for 1 of the invoices in the batch, you have to remove and redo the payment then match the separate invoice up, and then recreate the batch payment, excluding the amount which has now been paid. Would be easier if like with invoices, the batch payment could be split, saving the new to remove and then recreate the batch payment.

Hi everyone, thanks for the idea and support here. We appreciate all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding the ability to split batch payments when reconciling, and understand it currently takes extra steps to reconcile when a single invoice among a batch has been paid, or when there are multiple payments to the same entity for different invoices.
Being transparent, we don’t have direct plans for making this change within the foreseeable future but if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!

  19. I have multiple clients for whom I perform varying tasks. I log in and work on their accounts with my practice email.

When sending invoices on clients' behalf, or paying bills to clients' suppliers, the copy invoice or remittance advice goes to my practice email as I am the logged in user. The person/company who needs this copy is my client (whose email is the 'reply to').

At present I have to then log into my emails and forward the copies to my clients manually, (as filters get confused) and ensuring it is the correct client if I have been…

  20. Locking Invoices and Bills so they cannot be deleted once Finalised.

We often see clients raise invoices, or bills in their Xero file, and then later delete them if a change is required, and then raise another invoice or bill.
From an accounting perspective, this is a huge sin.
Once an invoice or bill has been finalised, the only way it should be altered is by raising either a debit or credit note against it. Xero allows a user to raise debit or credit notes, but the average non-accountant does not understand what these are, so they do the…
