UK Payroll - Access to communal time off calendar for employees
UK Payroll- Access to a communal time off calendar for all employees.
As a smaller business we try to have one employee off at a time where possible- it would be hugely useful if they could access a shared leave calendar in the same place as they request leave & submit timesheets from. This would pull data from my admin overview calendar and stop me having to create external calendar in iOS and another in android which leads to missing data etc and wasted holiday requests. They could see if the leave they want is available prior to the…31 votes -
NZ Payroll - Employee leave sort by first name
Can you please consider adding an option under Employee> Leave to sort by employee first name. You already had an option to sort by surname however it would be great to also be able to sort by first name. Thanks

AU Payroll - Annual Transaction Listing report per employee
Hi
I would like to be able to process a Payroll Transaction Summary Listing report that shows the individual amounts per pay item for every employee for the financial year in one report. Currently, I need to select the individual employee to get this information, but this is not practical when a business has 10 or more employees as it takes too much time to select each employee individually to get this information.

UK Payroll - Alternative NI Calculation type for directors starting mid-year
When adding a Director to payroll midway through the year the status can only be set to 'Annual'
It would be great if we were able to choose either 'Annual' or 'Alternative' Setting a new director on 'Annual' in January has affected their NI contributions. On Annual the NI does seem to vary but sort its self out by the end of the tax year. It just means paying more NI for a period of time.15 votes -
AU Payroll - Pay wages direct to employee's credit card
Right now there’s no functionality in Xero to record credit card account in an employees records, by adding this feature would allow payroll to be paid directly to a credit card.

AU Payroll - Support for prorated salary
I had a situation recently where we increased an employees salary but they wanted to reduce their working hours by 80%. The salary is based on 1 FTE. There is no way to actually do this in Xero Payroll. If I put the FTE salary in (to recognise the actual approved salary increase) and set working hours to 8 hours a day 4 days per week the 1 FTE salary is paid out in full over the year. But it should only be 80% of that. So I had to enter 80% of FTE and reduce the actual work…

AU Payroll - Add Seasonal Worker option for income type/tax scale
Xero needs to have an option in either Income Type or Tax Scale for employees on the Seasonal Worker Program, ie PALM Workers, so that the system automatically taxes them at the flat rate of 15%.
At the moment I have approx 33 such employees and I must adjust their tax in every single payrun.
The ATO have a specific code (W > P) that should be used for these workers under STP Phase 2 reporting. I refer you to the table at the following website page: https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Single-Touch-Payroll/In-detail/Single-Touch-Payroll-Phase-2-employer-reporting-guidelines/?page=5#Tax_treatment

NZ Payroll - Sick leave entitlements to automatically accrue when employees are included in any future pay run following their entitlement.
As a Chartered Accountant, I’ve observed an issue in Xero’s handling of sick leave entitlements that I believe warrants improvement. Currently, if an employee is not included in the pay run closest to their sick leave entitlement date, the entitlement does not accrue. This creates a significant gap in compliance with employment obligations and adds unnecessary administrative burden to correct.
To enhance the functionality and flexibility of Xero's payroll system, I think that sick leave entitlements should automatically accrue when the employee is included in any future pay run following their entitlement date. This adjustment would ensure compliance with employment…2 votesThanks for your feedback of how Xero handles sick leave entitlements, Natalee.
I've made sure this is shared back with our product team, and while we can understand the reason for change you'd like to see here, we want to be open that this isn't something we have planned in the immediate future.
Right now, if an employee isn't included in the scheduled pay run when their leave anniversary date falls, you'll need to do a manual leave adjustment to grant the employee the missed entitlement.
If there's any news of change for this, we'll update you here.

UK Payroll - Calculate hourly for leave/sick days
UK Payroll: Leave / Sick Days
Xero payroll nearly always miscalculates sick pay and absence deductions if staff are paid an annual salary for two reasons;
1) It works on average number of days in a month when month vary in working days every month and recalculates an inaccurate hourly rate from which it deducts absence (sometimes this is in favour of the employee but more commonly isn't) meaning that it often deducts too much from them and has to be manually recalculated.
2) It does not have the capability to deal with part-timers so if you have someone…11 votesHi everyone, I wanted to confirm with the release of working patterns this is now possible 😊
Working pattern templates create default work schedules for employees to ensure they are paid and accrue leave correctly, as part of their salary and wages settings.
You can now;
- Create or select from working pattern templates
- Add working patterns manually or using the template
- Setup multiple weeks of a working pattern
Thank you for your support and contribution through the idea here.

NZ Payroll - Ability to only split payments on salaries
As some employees split payments between multiple bank accounts when they're paid, it would be good to have an option where this only happens when processing a salary payment, not reimbursing expenses. Had one where there were only expense reimbursements done (no salary/PAYE etc.) but the payment was still split and majority went to IRD. Perhaps a checkbox when entering the second bank account in that says "only split on taxed earnings" or something like that to avoid having to go and delete then re-add the additional account every time.

UK Payroll - Secure form for fraud prevention
A company we work with here in UK was recently a victim of an elaborate but simple fraud, resulting in the loss of around £5,000 from the payroll.
The scam went like this:-
- Scammer fakes an email to HR from an employee requesting the bank details for their salary be changed.
- HR fails to spot the "EXTERNAL EMAIL WARNING!" and forwards this email to the person who updates the payroll. They also didn't spot the fake email address, or double-check with the employee.
- Bank details for the employee are updated in the payroll and bank payments.
- Some weeks…
3 votesThanks for your idea here, Rob. I've made sure to share this back with our Payroll product team. We appreciate your desire to prevent fraud, however there are also employee laws that implicate this process. It's something we're keen to track demand in here, but want to be upfront that there are no immediate plans for developing this.

AU Payroll: Automatically add approved expense claims to pay runs
Currently to reimburse employees for expenses you have to add them manually to each pay run for each employee, it would make sense for expenses that have been added using the expenses function to auto add to payroll each month to reduce work and to allow staff to be reimbursed quicker. this would also make the expenses function more worthwhile for the cost.
This would reduce stress for staff putting on employees as expenses that have been approved will automatically be added and marked as paid.

AU Payroll - Leave Request emails to show Organisation Name
Leave Request emails to show Organisation Name.
Currently, leave requests that come directly from Xero for an employee does not show which organisation the employee is from.
I have multiple businesses that I have payroll access and it is quite hard to recall all staff names from all businesses.
The subject line should show Jane Doh from XYZ Pty Ltd has requested leave. This would make identifying the company much simpler.4 votes -

UK Payroll - Activity Details and Summary report format
The new Payroll Activity and Summary Report is not as user friendly as the old one. It was much easier to read and find your employee name and net amount due on the older version. I also don't like how half an employees details can be on one page and the rest on the next page. I would like to revert to the old style, if possible?

AU Payroll - Show leave balance on payslip without accruals
Australian Payroll - sick leave on payslip - want to show balance without accrual in the payrun, and to be able to do this after employment has commenced. Currently this is only possible if you allocate the full balance to employee's at the start of the employment. Historically this has not been done and it needs to be changed to avoid staff confusion and having to reset the leave each payrun.
4 votesHi team, being open we don't have any plans around this atm. Currently to do this you would set the leave type calculation to 'No calculation required'. This will allow you to set the balance and have any accrual column showing.

AU Payroll - Allow a Backpay category for Leave categories
Now with STP2, we need to disaggregate backpay across the various ATO Payroll categories but it is not possible to setup a backpay category for any leave categories, please create default categories or allow allocation to the ATO leave categories in pay items. Without it, it is impractical to be STP2 compliant.
