Reporting - Filter Inventory reports by Tracking
Please add ability to filter inventory reports by tracking codes, so you can see quality purchased and sold by tracking code.
Hi team, being upfront here - though we appreciate the interest in adding tracking to Inventory reports here this isn't something we have any plans for in the short term.
As shared in my last update, we'd recommend the Receivable or Payable Invoice Detail reports which can be grouped and filtered by Item and Tracking and enable you to get a view of the quantities purchased and sold by category đŸ™‚

Trying to set up a report which cleanly shows what total quantity of various products were sold the week prior by various individuals. Thought we had it sussed by creating a sale account for each person + using Inventory Item Summary, but it turns out this report does not pay attention to the selected sale account of the transactions, only the transacted item's default sale accounts assigned during set up.
Discovered Tracked Categories and though, hurray, found a solution. Created a Category "Salesperson" with all the individuals as options, but you can't filter the Inventory Item Summary report by Tracked Categories!!
Getting really difficult to use Xero for the direction we're going in (which doesn't seem to be a particularly complicated/demanding one!)

Critical as many of our clients rely on tracking codes. The payable invoice report is useless for one of our clients as they buy in stock, then once it is deployed to a site, this is done through decreasing the quantity of the item. It is then allocated to a fixed asset code with a tracking category - which you are then unable to filter by?

This feature is essential for us to gain insight to what products sell to what groups of clients, and would really appreciate this feature being added.

This report is CRITICAL for our business (agriculture) where we need to track a) by commodity (so we have wheat, barley etc set up as inventory items) and then by the tracking category (in our case "Harvest 2023 etc) so that we can run reports by either commodity sold for a time period or commodity sold from a season (that is not necessarily sold immediately after harvest and is stored on farm). Need reports that include $ value as well as tonnages for bank reviews, budgeting etc.

That'd be great - we've clients that want to track products sold at different sites. As a workaround, I've setup a custom report for the Payable Invoice Detail report, export to Excel and then use a pivot table to extract the data we need to report on.

To be able to filter by tracking category would be a huge advantage to one of my Clients as they have stock at more than one site and using this would assist them in know what stock is at each site. Also then being able to have the option to see the Location/Tracking Category on the specific Product Inventory Page would be a huge advantage.

It's wild that the tracking categories aren't included in inventory reports. The work around suggestion of using the receivable or payable details doesn't cut it, as it doesn't capture cash basis (spend/receive money) transactions and therefore isn't a complete picture of inventory.

The payable invoice detail reports as suggested above don't include anything entered as a spend money. So the reports would be incomplete or take considerably more data entry time to get entered in a way that can be reported.

Inventory Sales report - filtered by Channel.
So the existing report (Inventory Sales Summary) for tracked stock would be great if the Channel field was added to the filtering options. Then we could see sales per channel as well as by SKU.
