Tracking - Increase the number of tracking categories
I have a real estate client who wants to track clientID and Postcode but also Agent name and property value range. I can only use 2 categories and so have had to make a number of Item codes for each agent 30+ codes per agent in order to do this. If we could have more than 2 tracking categories that would be great!

Hi everyone, we appreciate all the interest in Tracking. As widely used as this feature is we have no plans at this point to develop and extend the current limitations of Tracking in Xero.
As some here may have explored - there are connected apps that may serve some of the needs of Tracking, as well as Xero Projects for those looking to monitor and record finite business projects or jobs.
If there's any change, we'll return here to update.
You're welcome to continue to share detail of how increasing options for tracking could benefit your business, however we want to be transparent in our position, so you can make the best decision as needed for your business.

We need more than 2 tracking category's or we will have to change to another accounting system in the next three months. Xero keeps increasing its charges so its time to increase its tracking please.

More than 2 tracking category's and more than 100 per category please. We tried using projects and it didn't work for the company as well as using tracking codes. Otherwise we are going to have to change to a different system.

Either more than 2 or more than 100 per category please. I also work in a non-profit and unless Xero updates this then it is useless to a whole sector.

Our business has expanded and now we have more than 100 branches, We have a limitation of recording truncations now. Can we please have more than 100 tracking options under the tracking categories. Even if you can increase the tracking categories more than 2, that would be great. We can pay a higher subscription for these extra facilities.

We need to track which countries our suppliers are located, so that we can analyse spend per country with suppliers, Because we could not archive our 2 tracking categories, we had to work around it, by adding our contacts to contact groups naming the contact groups by country, then including that when running a transaction report. This may work for now but we'd still appreciate more than 2 tracking categories!

The current limit of 100 items per tracking category is very restrictive. We feel that It will be very useful if there are more than 100 items available per category.

I completely agree. I work with a non-profit that has donations that need to be tracked and spent a certain way. We also need to keep the history so renaming them is not an option. I do not like quickbooks because it is not stable. My transaction categories keep changing on their own. We cannot use quickbooks. I love xero until I started working with the non profit. We really need the unlimited tracking options and at least 3 tracking categories please.

It will be useful if we can buy more tracking as it will make our cost analysis much more simple than doing what your Xero support suggested. We do it and it isn't useful.

We are considering transitioning to Xero but the 2 categories available is a limitation for us, we may be able to get around this but it is not ideal. However we also need more than 100 options per category as we would like to report on individual properties per entity and have more than 100 properties. Any plans to increase the categories and options Xero?

2 active categories is not enough. We'd appreciate it having 2 or more...
We need add'l for the work items and department which we are currently manually inputting these in a spreadsheet. -

I agree with this. 2 categories is not enough if you want to track a vehicle, an event and a department a the same time. We have a charity and the reporting is not very good for covering multiple areas.

We would also like this option. We need to add more than 400 clients but this limitation is putting a hold on project progress.
