Global Search - From Every Screen

Have the ability to use the search function, regardless of what you are currently looking at.

Right now, whenever you are in the Report section or the Fixed Assets section, you do not have the ability to search. You have to go to a different page, and then you're allowed to search.

Quickly following on from our last update our teams have been working hard to keep developing consistency in search. You'll now find you can search from any screen across your Xero organisation!

We appreciate direct feedback on the screens you wanted to see this capability such as Fixed Assets, Payroll, new Invoicing, Reports - Now, wherever you go in your org, you'll find the magnifying glass in the blue navigation bar. 😁

    Not having the search magnifying glass on every screen is a big inconvenience, for sure.

    I am surprised there are't more voices calling for this. I can't imagine any other reason for accessing this screen if it's not to search for a particular invoice/bill/supplier etc. I don't think I have ever accessed this screen for any other reason.

    Please Xero team can you read the comments below and put the search function back on the ribbon on all pages???

    The search icon doesn't appear on the Payroll submenus. This seems to be a basic UI design issue, which ought to be easy enough to fix. It's frustrating having to go back to the main menu to find a search icon, especially when it appears on most other submenus throughout Xero.

    This feature was in here right up until the latest update. Surely it can't be that hard to put it back. I've gone back to old invoicing otherwise it takes heaps longer to invoice 30-50 invoices.

    I invoice up to 60 people in one go. Now the new invoice system has been implemented, the search has disappeared from the screen until you go back out to the main screen. Can this please be put back so once a customer has been invoiced and emailed, I can select the next name without having to go through two more button clicks every time.

    I thought this was just an oversight that would be soon corrected when I first started using xero - but it's been a couple of years now and I still can't search from every page. Please get this fixed. It's obnoxious, and easy to fix.

    This blows me away and trips me up every time I use Xero - that you can’t search for items from every page of Xero? This is basic functionality. Xero does quarterly updates with all these new features and upgrades, but we still can’t search for anything when in reports (most of the time in my case)?
    It’s incredibly frustrating and interrupts work flow.

    I have to agree with this - not being able to search from the invoices page means extra steps in my workflow. Please add this.

    This function would be very useful. It would also be good if the entered search whether it is by name, value, etc. remained selected till we cleared it, enabling us to change between tabs without having it clear. This will eliminate the need to repeatedly re-enter the search each time we switch between tabs.

    this is so frustrating, when I want to search for an invoice, quote, PO, Bill or customer from the new reports, I have to first click back to the dashboard, wait for it to load then either use the global search or open up the appropriate page.
    A real time waster, and yet another backwards step for Xero with their 'new innovations'

    Improve the SEARCH function, starting with displaying the SEARCH PANEL at all times on the BILLS TO PAY and INVOICES windows. That is the reason I use these windows 100% of the time - to search.

    Following on from your comment, I cannot see the Global Search function on the Dashboard. What has happened - can you see it?

    You should be able to use the search tool no matter where you are in xero, it's annoying to be in a report but then have to go elsewhere to search

    Within the Reports section we can currently search for the reports using the spyglass and then open the reports from there. It would be useful if we could mark the report as a favourite from that drop down to save on the time of finding the report from the full list.

    Agreed, this is an odd design bug. Search users get very used to using the search function, and it is such a pain to have to leave a report to make a search. The search function is amazing! Long may it live! On all screens! For all users!

    Didn't the search glass used to be on the bar all the time? Now, if I want to search for a contact I have to click on the contact button and THEN I see the seach glass. Why not just leave it up on the bar so I have one less click and I can find exactly who I'm looking for quickly? I can search for an amount, a name - anything without having to look for the search glass.
