Customer Statements - Ageing (30, 60, 90days)
It would be great if we could add ageing on client/customer statements. (Current, 30, 60, 90 days) Many clients have requested that the ageing be displayed on their statements. Current, overdue and total isn't detailed enough..
Hi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.
There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.
Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.
- Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
- If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
- Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero
We appreciate the one element missing is the ability to send from in Xero, but to be open and upfront we don't have direct plans for making this change within customer statements in the foreseeable future. Thanks

Customer Statements - Ageing (30, 60, 90days) (Originally from Sandra's Tuckers idea back in 2022, That Kelly Munro marked not planned on 7 March 2023 and stopped/removed the vote feature, but still getting a lot of comments in 2024. It would have had close to double the 383 votes it already has if votes if it was not removed)

Well, it's clear that the bright sparks at Xero decided that this is not an important feature, although voted up significantly, as they marked it "Not Planned". They also decided that you cannot vote for this feature as it will clearly show Xero that they do not listen to small businesses or accountants any longer. They will rather show you a time-consuming alternative, or another third-party app that you have to pay extra for. Remember the days when Xero was the most affordable accounting package and listened to accountants and small businesses? Well, those days are OVER.

This is a critical part of our business. very disappointed to find that Xero does not offer this options. Will strongly consider returning to QBO.

Xero could be so much better with so little extra work...
It is mind boggling to see the efforts being put into unecessary features, while leaving the important accounting attributes to 3rd party integrations. Frankly there should be significant reductions in monthly subscriptions, not increases.
Xero will not change until customers start voting with their feet.

@Susan Brown - That would be nice, however, well, sadly according to the bright sparks at Xero this is not an important feature at all, as they forcing you to pay a third-party app if you want that feature, like Xero has not become one the most expensive cloud software for small businesses. This is however also not planned according to Xero and has no interest in putting in standard features in an accounting software that was initially supported by accountants. They offered a workaround because you know, accountants and bookkeepers have plenty of time on their hands to do work manually outside Xero. So basically, if that feature is important to you (and if you want your clients to pay you on time) and cannot cough up an additional subscription for the third-party app, you will need to try the less fancy alternative accounting software with that basic, non-exciting feature.

We really do need this feature. This is surely a basic of accounting.

You can't call yourself accounting software if you don't feature these very basic requirements. Sot it out Xero! your subscription prices are high enough to be covering this simple request. I can't work out how no-one thought this kind of information would be needed on a statement. I reckon it was a very long meeting and all the designers got bored and just thought sod it we're off to the beach.

I think we have reached a point where you have to decide if you are going to leave Xero or stay without this feature. They are not going to add it and the Xero Partner I have spoken to has confirmed as much. As someone who came from Sage Accounting, I am going back. The Xero subscription prices are way too expensive for us to be begging for a feature that is industry standard. I no longer believe that I am getting value for my money when I can get the functionality I want from Sage and at half the cost, including Payroll. Sometimes the best way is to let your money do the talking because listening to the customer is not a Xero strength.

Please develop this feature, it is really an issue, I have clients who want to move away from Xero because of this

when creating a custom month-end statement layout for our customers it would be great to have the opportunity to show the current balances of previous months 30/60/90 days. many other packages allow this and it is often requested by our customers for clarity see attachment for example. There is currently no fields that can be added to the layout that would do this.

It's a crucial feature to have, and hope Xero would implement this at soonest possible.
Also customers would only pay if they see their PO number next to the invoice in the Statement. Yet another feature that's is crusial, but Xero has yet to implement the PO number field in the Invoices.

Hi Xero,
Customer Statements - Ageing (30, 60, 90 days) is a standard Bookkeeping Feature.
Please add this Urgently. I do not understand how Xero does not see this as being an Important feature.

This is a basic functionality required for credit control and you should able to send customer statements showing ageing debt and what is owed without this work around which isnt clear the balance now due

Ani Chen commented
This functionality is crucial as it impacts collectibility. I'm wondering why Xero has not taken action on it yet??

Herman Buhrmann commented
Hi Xero, please can you add this, we are paying for the full package and I cannot believe that this (Customer Statements - Ageing (30, 60, 90days)) is not featured.

I think Kelly from Xero missed the point here. The request is to have an agent analysis appear on customer individual statement when the statements are generated and emailed to customers at the end of a billing period.
The workaround Kelly has given is to generate an overall ageing analysis report. How is this even related??
-
Sergio Congia commented
This workaround suggested by Kelly is not feasible. The age big needs to show in all statements that are generated and sent to customers and should be past of the statement template somehow

This is a standard feature for accounting software. We should not ask to be added to it. Instead, we should look into software that offers everything necessary to run our business. Hopefully, Xero will understand how important it is to have it available.
