Add Stripe "description" to Stripe Direct Feed into Xero
Improve / expand data brought across in Stripe Direct Feed. Description in Stripe is not brought across which means many Stripe transactions in our Xero feed have meaningless references and descriptions e.g.
Reference: ch_3MHilDKRj5Y4ltOC0Sef6SkV
Description: Subscription creation / Card Country-CA
Instead of the actual product description that is shown in Stripe.
That means we can not create bank rules to rely on description / reference data and need to manually check transactions in Stripe to reconcile revenue to the correct product-based revenue accounts.
Hi Erik, the data in the statement lines that's imported into Xero via the direct feed is provided directly by Stripe themselves.
To import the transaction description to match what appears in Online Banking, you could manually import your statement lines into Xero instead.

For those who like me have struggled with I just wanted to provide a positive update. Using the Stripe Invoice API our developer has been able to make this work. We now get the product description across from Stripe to Xero on all payments, both once-off as well as recurring payments. And with a bit of effort, he has been able to configure the descriptions so that we can run bank rules on all incoming payments! If you want more details feel free to drop me / our developer an email at developer@r2reliability.com

Has anyone had a luck with this? We are in the process of having what was 13 individual stripe feeds condense to 1 clearing account. We have the meta data set up to identify the location the payment came from, however this identifier does not import to Xero

Hi all,
For anyone that may be interested you could check out SubSync by Finlert in the Xero app store. It will replicate Stripe invoices into Xero so you always have a document to reconcile against.

Anyone running a subscription service with Stripe and Xero has this issue.
Can you get together with Stripe to resolve this issue for your customers?
It's most needed for subscriptions. But the ability for us to choose what data is imported would potentially be the best solution.

How about the ability to pull in metadata from Stripe to Xero to use in the bank feeds?
