Customer Statements - Ageing (30, 60, 90days)
It would be great if we could add ageing on client/customer statements. (Current, 30, 60, 90 days) Many clients have requested that the ageing be displayed on their statements. Current, overdue and total isn't detailed enough..
Hi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.
There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.
Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.
- Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
- If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
- Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero
We appreciate the one element missing is the ability to send from in Xero, but to be open and upfront we don't have direct plans for making this change within customer statements in the foreseeable future. Thanks

Customer Statements - Ageing (30, 60, 90days) (Originally from Sandra's Tuckers idea back in 2022, That Kelly Munro marked not planned on 7 March 2023 and stopped/removed the vote feature, but still getting a lot of comments in 2024. It would have had close to double the 383 votes it already has if votes if it was not removed)

Well, it's clear that the bright sparks at Xero decided that this is not an important feature, although voted up significantly, as they marked it "Not Planned". They also decided that you cannot vote for this feature as it will clearly show Xero that they do not listen to small businesses or accountants any longer. They will rather show you a time-consuming alternative, or another third-party app that you have to pay extra for. Remember the days when Xero was the most affordable accounting package and listened to accountants and small businesses? Well, those days are OVER.

This is a critical part of our business. very disappointed to find that Xero does not offer this options. Will strongly consider returning to QBO.

Come On Xero!
Our old software running on Microsoft Access had this functionality. If you are concerned about helping with cash flow, this is a major feature make sure customers don't ignore their late payments. -

Good day Xero
This is a major problem for us. Please adhere to our request, as the accounting software that I used previously had this function. We moved over to Xero and now our customers are requesting aging details.
Otherwise please contact me and explain why this is not a priority so that I can understand. -

Xero could be so much better with so little extra work...
It is mind boggling to see the efforts being put into unecessary features, while leaving the important accounting attributes to 3rd party integrations. Frankly there should be significant reductions in monthly subscriptions, not increases.
Xero will not change until customers start voting with their feet.

@Susan Brown - That would be nice, however, well, sadly according to the bright sparks at Xero this is not an important feature at all, as they forcing you to pay a third-party app if you want that feature, like Xero has not become one the most expensive cloud software for small businesses. This is however also not planned according to Xero and has no interest in putting in standard features in an accounting software that was initially supported by accountants. They offered a workaround because you know, accountants and bookkeepers have plenty of time on their hands to do work manually outside Xero. So basically, if that feature is important to you (and if you want your clients to pay you on time) and cannot cough up an additional subscription for the third-party app, you will need to try the less fancy alternative accounting software with that basic, non-exciting feature.

We really do need this feature. This is surely a basic of accounting.

Why has Xero not implemented this? At least give us an answer? This is a critical feature for customers.

Fully support this, and I have been asking for this for years, especially as it is so basic, which is why I just can't understand why Xero have not implemented this? Come on xero!!

There is a comment on one of your support from Sept 2023 saying DueIn was "about to be added" - seriously, showing clients that a balance is overdue is nowhere near as informative as showing it is now 100 days overdue!

I have a very big debtors ledger - I trully need to have their statements show aging correclty - rather than a lump sum total. Many customers get upset -
This is a basic function afforded by many accounting programs -

I've got a customer complaining about our statement layout all the time. The current format works if customers always pay full invoice amounts and on-time, but that's not how it always works in real life. Aged debtor statements would be so helpful, instead I'm wasting time explaining what's overdue to customers. It's so annoying.

One of our businesses on Xero, have a rental unit, it is critical to have an age analysis on rental statements.
We are in the process to move to Odoo due to this and Xero's inability to link invoices to quotes, to invoice a quote partially and to show a financial overview of a project, ie, amount quoted, amount accepted, amount invoiced and amount left on order!Basic things that I can do with excell!
Would think it is standard for any bookkeeping program.

Hi Xero,
I would like to request access to the Statement Mergefields for Age Analysis. This seems to be a standard field in most accounting packages and I would certainly expect it from Xero.
This is a crucial mergefield that I am sure most / if not all small businesses require to keep their debtors book under control.
I am aware of third party plug-ins like Statey that has access to the Xero Age Analysis fields . However, the price of it is 25% of what we already pay for Xero, and that only to get access to a mergefield (Age Analysis).
Come on Xero, please give ear to so MANY that has requested this feature.
We receive wonderful newsletter from Xero on managing cashflow etc. But if you are really serious about helping small business - why not consider making this mergefield available.

You can't call yourself accounting software if you don't feature these very basic requirements. Sot it out Xero! your subscription prices are high enough to be covering this simple request. I can't work out how no-one thought this kind of information would be needed on a statement. I reckon it was a very long meeting and all the designers got bored and just thought sod it we're off to the beach.
