XPM | Job Manager - Search list by client
Search job list by client, at the moment you have to scroll through the job list to find the job you are looking for, which when the job list is very large this is frustrating. It is easier to go to clients, search the client, then go to the jobs list. But this is not very time effective when you know what you are looking for or just want to check if there are jobs in there for a certain client.
Excited to share that along with my recent update on the ability to filter by client, you can now search by client from the Practice Manager All jobs table!
Typing a client name in the search field will now show you a list of jobs related to a client.😁
Thank you all for your support and sharing on how we could improve your experience when using Job Manager for your Practice.

Can you give us an update on this dev work? With 2023 year end nearly on us this is critical to have now as it is holding up efficient planning and workflow for another year if its not available sooner.

Yeah but Ctrl + F only works for the 1 page of jobs that you are on.

Quick alternative search in job manager (until they add client search option) is to ctrl F.

I agree with Jane Jinnette, I simply need to call up a client in Job Manager so that I can change the status however because the name search function does not work I must scroll through 4 maybe even 6 pages to find the client I need and can then update the status from that screen at the click of the button otherwise I need to go into the client and access the job from inside the client as it is quicker than scrolling through them all... I simply don't understand why it says search by name if that function isn't available??

Yes!! I tried all sorts of wildcards until I asked support and they said I can't search by client.

We definitely need the ability to search by Client Name in the new Job Manager screen. Searching by Job name is useless as many of the same names used across all clients (eg, December 2022) for the BAS. Nobody will know the job number off the top of their head. All our staff have commented on this.
Please, please please bring back the ability to search by Client Name.

100% agree. The job screen is basically redundant if you can't search by client. It does seem as though Xero is rushing out updates without running the update through a beta phase or consulting the end user.

I'm looking at the new Job Manager screen and there are lots of great new features BUT the search is only job number or job name which is a bit useless given we've got thousands of jobs and all the names are the same eg 2022 Annual Accounts. Search by client is critical. When can we have this searchability please?
Anyone else got this problem?

Completely agree, what a waste of time having a search function which can't search by client name. The new view is completely unusable due to this oversight. A poor attempt at an upgrade! We have hundreds of jobs with the same name - eg Management Accounts, and we can't find a job by client. Unbelievable that this so called upgrade seems to have been released without testing the basics!

Agree with all the comments here. The new screen is horrible to look at and has basically become a page we don't use as it is much quicker to go to the client to find a job than have to page through all your clients to find the jobs. The full list of jobs on one page was much more useful. The search function may as well not even be there - we never search by job number or name (most of out jobs have the same name!). I will admit I prefer the option to filter by job state as opposed to the old way of 'searching' by job state, but it isn't worth it to have lost all the other functionality.

I contacted help because of inability to search for job by client name - refer case ID CX0013213445. The fact that you cannot search by client makes this upgrade unusable. At least in old jobs screen you could see all jobs and at least search using Ctrl + F. There is no option to do this in this.

100% agree! The beauty of the old job screen was that you could do a Ctrl-F, type the client's name in and quickly navigate to their jobs

It amazes me why they changed the job screen - now its near on useless for me as i cannot find jobs quickly. Xero really!!! Please fix this urgently

Bring back the old Job Screen that was actually functional and searchable by client name. Like most Xero products this update appears to have been rushed out without sufficient user input or testing

The new Job screen actually sucks - you used to be able to search using ctrl f to find a job - since the " upgrade" and the new table layout which now displays jobs in pages instead of one complete list, you now have to search(ctrl f) for a job on each separate page until you find it which is a total nonsense and a waste of precious time! Please fix!!!

In the newly updated Jobs page of XPM, there is a search bar. Hurray! Except this only allows you to search by job number or job name. Job names are generic and used for many clients at once. You need to be able to search by CLIENT name.
Especially when you have so many jobs that they go onto more than one page now in the newer Jobs Manager.
As you can see in the screenshot attached, the search bar says "Search by job number or name". I think search by client would be more effective.
Thank you.
