    I feel like this request has even more votes than are represented here. I've seen multiple chains on it that have been combined and older comments seem to have been filed away or lost. I believe it's been asked for since at least 2015. If someone can make a plugin to fix it, must not be too challenging to actually add all the way in to Xero? And I wish I knew what a plugin was and how to use it. Better yet I wish the 'create on' and 'invoice date' fields could be separate!

    This remains critical to me. I've been asking for a 'create on' date separate from 'invoice date' for years. Xero fixed a separate issue I commented on quickly, so I hoped for a similar response here. If I'd known this one would take so long I would have switched back to my prior service (which always had this feature) immediately. Longer I stayed more of a hassle changing became. But PLEASE PLEASE ADD THIS ONE ADDITIONAL DATE FIELD TO REPEATING INVOICES. We have regular service fees but also need time to add incidental charges to invoices. Combing through hundreds of invoices the same day of the invoice date is impossible. I need invoices to appear in the system prior to the invoice date. I currently use an artificial earlier date, do the work at my pace, then manually change all the invoice dates back. It is tedious and I look forward to the day when it's easier. Please, and thank you!

    Another purpose is to give time to edit invoices that are primarily the same each month but have occasional extra items to be added. With upwards of 200 customers it is helpful to have a week or two before invoice date to comb through, instead of having to do all the work on the day, or generate with incorrect early invoice date to give time then manually change every date.

    This appears to be the same request as in a separate thread titled "Repeating Invoices - Generate invoice before invoice date". Perhaps the threads should be combined and votes added together. At least we should all vote for both of these. It seems this request for separate "create on" and "invoice date" fields first came up nearly nine years ago. I love Xero dearly and it's the one thing that drives me nuts (that I have to wait until the same day for invoices to appear, to review and make any changes, or that I have to force-generate early and then manually fix the invoice date to later). Please can this be the next addition/change! I will be thrilled and begin whole heartedly recommending Xero to others. These dates not being separate is the only reason I'm not already.

    This bulletin board lists the purpose of this request as: Users' can sometimes ask their customer/client to pay the invoices earlier.

    I would like to add another purpose: for services that have a regular service fee but occasional add-on costs for extra work, it provides more time than a single day to update invoices prior to sending them out on the invoice date.

    There are many reasons one would desire to have an invoice appear in the system earlier than the invoice date. I know it is possible for there to be separate fields for "invoice date" and "generate invoice on" because I've seen it in action in other bookkeeping programs. When I first started using Xero five years ago I loved it other than two small things. One of them was fixed right away and it gave me great hope this other missing bit would be fixed as well. I'm tired of waiting. I've been generating my repeating invoices on the date I want them to appear in the system and manually changing the invoice date on each (close to 200) each month for YEARS. I don't want a workaround, an alternate suggestion, no. Please add a date field so invoices can appear in the system on September 1st with invoice date of September 15th on them. When the new price increases go into effect, I will pay the new rate and hang in there for a few short months more. I'm counting on you to bump this up the priority list and make it happen before I get so fed up I switch companies. I do not want to change companies and re-educate all of my customers on where to expect emails to come from and how to pay. I want Xero to address this instead. I really love Xero except for this ONE thing, and I'm at my limit with it!! Please, and thank you!
