Hi community, while we're continuing to keep a close eye on the support for this idea here, we don't have any plans in the near term to control the naming of files sent form Xero.

Just to share, though appreciate many will already be aware, once the file is received and downloaded by the recipient the file name can be manually edited on their local device.

If there are any plans made we'll share here.

Yes I need this. I have just queried this being done
I want to change the file name of the invoice so it sends as "COMPANY NAME INV-0048" not "Invoice INV-0048"

I know how to change the default prefix on an invoice, but that isn't what I want. And I know how to change the default subject line on the email template that accompanies the invoice, but it is the actual name of the electronic PDF file that I want to change as a default. What I mean by that is instead of the PDF file being named "Invoice INV-0791" I want it to automatically be called "COMPANY NAME INV-0781". As sending supporting supplier invoices to clients/customers/tenants is proving confusing to them when our invoice is called "Invoice INV-0781" but where the supporting supplier bill is also generated in Xero is then called "Invoice INV-36955". I don't want to have to start downloading to rename everything before attaching to the invoice we want to send. If our default invoice word could just be named directly from Xero, we could continue as we are.
I am all for working smarter not harder!!
