Hi Alice, separate columns would help keep the export usable for reporting. I would preserve one row per original transaction line, with each tracking category's name as a column heading and its selected option as the value.

The title mentions columns, while the description mentions separate lines. That distinction matters: repeating a £100 transaction line once for its department and once for its location could make a downstream sum show £200. Separate columns avoid that duplication.

It would also help to retain the transaction identifier and a line identifier where available, leave unassigned categories blank, and document any changes to column names. That would make repeated exports easier to reconcile and combine in Excel or a reporting model.
