  1. Currently, documents (invoices) that are attached to a "Bill to Pay" entry do not copy over to the bill payment transaction at reconciliation. You have to go to the (reconciled) account transaction and manually add the same documents again !

I'm told by xero this is because the Bill to Pay and actual bill payment are 2 separate transactions and the "documents" icon and process apply only to the transaction being processed at the time.

This is silly. It is doing the same thing twice - and requires you remember to do it anyway!

Thanks for sharing this suggestion, Richard.

We appreciate you letting us know about the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea for having documents attached to a bill automatically copy over to the final bill payment transaction. We can see how this would save a lot of time and remove the current double-handling of having to attach the same file again post-reconciliation.

This idea is now open to gain support from other members of the community. Along with votes, others can now comment to share more detail on how this improved workflow would help their experience with Xero. 🙂

  2. For Advisors only: if a padlock is present on an account of the COA I would like the padlock to go to the bank rules so they can easily be redirected to the new account. For example, we set up Directors Loan accounts for each financial year. Each year we hae to add a new account too the COAs and reroute all of the rules. Painful!

Hey Michele, thanks for your suggestion to make the padlock icon on the Chart of Accounts a direct link to the associated bank rules.

We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that would improve your workflow. We can see how this would be a huge time-saver for Advisors, especially when managing year-end processes like creating new Director's Loan accounts and rerouting the old rules.

We've reviewed your idea, and it's now ready to gain support from other community members. Along with votes, other Advisors can now comment to share more detail about how this feature could make their own account management processes much less painful. 🙂

  3. Would like a pop out screen to view and edit transactions from the transaction report without having to arrow back to the report after each view/edit. Currently it is extremely time consuming with appx 7 back clicks to return to the report after each individual view/edit.

Thanks for your engagement and for sharing this idea about editing Spend Money transactions directly from the Transaction Report.

We've reviewed your suggestion, and it's now open to gain support from other community members. We can definitely see how having to click back and forth to the report after each edit is a time-consuming process.

Hi Melody, thanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Idea's. We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that would be most meaningful to you.

We don't have any immediate plans for adding this feature in Fixed Assets, but we'll monitor and track support your idea receives from the community.

You can find out and stay updated with Xero releases on Xero Central.

Hi everyone, as a quick confirmation through the idea - Right now you can use a CSV file to enter data and import multiple manual journals at once.

However, as per the request in this idea it is not currently possible to select or drag and drop multiple files to upload and create multiple manual journals at once.

If this is something you'd find valuable please add your support to this idea. We're interested to understand the community appetite in this feature.

  7. Reinstate the 'Compare With' drop down.

The key benefit of the old General Ledger Summary report was it's ability to show the net movement for multiple periods.

Xero is now without a single report to perform this core function.

Hi Phil, thank you for this important feedback on the General Ledger Summary report.

We understand your point about the previous version's functionality. Losing the ability to easily show the net movement for multiple periods in a single report is a significant change, and we recognise how valuable this core function was for analysis.

We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you.

We've reviewed your idea to reinstate the "Compare With" feature to show net movement per period, and now it can gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share how they used this comparative reporting feature for their financial analysis.🙂

  8. In the iOS app: Create an Invoice. When you are selecting the customer to invoice: Who is it for?

Once you tap this field, a search window appears and you start typing customer name to find.

Below the search field it would be nice to have a list of the top 5-10 customers you have create invoices for.

When I enter the month of the bank statement with the bank statement beginning and ending balances and want to make sure all of the transactions from that month's bank statement are accounted for, checks that were written in a previous month but not posted in the bank statement until another month aren't showing up in coded transactions in the month where the bank transaction occurred. Thank you for sharing this detailed idea about how the reporting date is handled for reconciled checks.

We understand the issue you've described. When a check from a previous period clears the bank, the reconciliation report posts the transaction to the month the check was written, not the month it actually appeared on the bank statement. We can definitely see how this makes it challenging to use the report to verify a specific month's bank activity.

We're grateful for your engagement and letting us know the changes that matter to you. We've reviewed your idea and now it can gain support from other community members. Along with votes, others can now comment to share additional detail about how changing the reporting date for reconciled transactions could improve their experience with Xero.

  10. When writing a cheque, I am limited to a 6-digit unique cheque number. With QUickBooks I used the date as the checknumber. For example May 31 2025 would be 20250531, then I append a letter to it as 20250531a. With making payment on web sites and then entering checks into Xero this still allows things to sort properly. Being limited to 6 numbers makes it harder to keep track of things.

  11. We have 3 Belgian customers who are unable to used Xero as there is no connection with Belgium tax authorities, comparable with the HMRC in the UK for MTD VAT returns. If Xero truly want to be a global accounting solution, with Group structures having multiple geographical entities, they need to provide more global support/interaction to avoid clients moving away to alternative solutions.

  12. Please please please Xero can you work on a proper Square bank feed integration so we don't have to keep using Amaka or other 3rd party connection apps!!!
Why can't we connect Square as a bank account with a feed similar to Stripe?!?! We are in 2024, square has been around for 15years!!

I have so many issues with Square! And it is one of the most widely used payment processors!

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on a direct bank feed for Square. We understand that using a third-party integration isn't always seamless and that a direct feed, like the one for Stripe, would make life easier when reconciling your payments.

As noted by others here, the current solution is to connect an app from the Xero App Store to bring your Square transactions into Xero, or you can continue to manually import these.

Right now, building a direct bank feed for Square isn’t in our plans. We're continuing to monitor the interest in this idea, so please keep adding your votes and comments as it helps us see the demand.

  13. Quality of Life suggestion:

At present, typing in a report name into the "Find a Report" search-box will only give you a return if you're in the correct tab (eg. searching from the 'Home' tab will not return any 'Custom' or 'Drafts' reports).

I suggest that reports from other tabs be included, at least when searching from the 'Home' tab, with an icon/heading to distinguish the tab-origin of the report.

(I appreciate 'Published' and 'Archived' returns could run into the hundreds, so perhaps a toggle/filter would suffice to omit/include those returns as desired)

Hi Jonathan, thanks for this fantastic 'quality of life' suggestion. We really appreciate you taking the time to detail not just the idea, but also how it could work in practice.

We've reviewed your proposal to enhance the "Find a Report" search box so it returns results from all tabs – like 'Custom' and 'Drafts' – not just the one you're currently viewing. We can see how this would make finding the right report much faster.

Your idea is now open for other members of the community to support and add their thoughts to. Along with votes, others can now comment on how a global search for reports, perhaps with the filters you suggested, would improve their own day-to-day workflow.

  14. In Invoice preview for a non- taxable line item there is a tax rate on the line item. At the bottom where tax is calculated the total tax is correct (it does not include tax on the non-taxable item). It is confusing for a client looking at the invoice, they may think they are being taxed on the non-taxable item. Can invoice preview show 0% tax on the non-taxable item and the correct tax % on the taxable item.

Hi Larina, thanks for raising this point about invoice clarity. We agree that it's really important for customer-facing documents to be as clear and easy to understand as possible to avoid any confusion.

We've reviewed your suggestion to have the Invoice preview explicitly show a 0% tax rate on non-taxable line items, while still showing the correct rate on taxable items. We can see how this would make the invoice breakdown much clearer for your clients.

Your idea is now open to gain support and feedback from other members of the community. Along with votes, we encourage others to share their own experiences and comment on how this change would help improve clarity on their invoices.🙂

Hi, grateful for your engagement here community.

Just a quick update that this idea is open for voting and comments from the wider community - please share your thoughts on how this would help you. We'll keep an eye on the support for this idea here.

  16. At present we are able to edit the layout of reports by rearranging, creating formulas, and grouping accounts. It would be INCREDIBLE to be able to customize the following.

    1) Group font (size and boldness only)- right now it defaults to a much larger BOLD font than the underlying accounts. It would be nice to choose these sizes and weights

    2) Customize the Group Total's Location - at present it shows only as an additional labeled row with the corresponding total. It would be a neater presentation to just have the group total show right in line with its main…

Hi Michael we're grateful for your engagement here, however we ask that each post is contained to a single idea for a feature.

We've identified that there are existing Xero Product Ideas relating to customising fonts and styles in reporting, and collapsing and expanding account groups. We've gone ahead and added your vote to these ideas, so that we can gather support and gauge interest for these ideas separately.

We've also adjusted the title of this idea to reflect your suggestion to change the position of group totals in custom layouts. This idea can now gather support through votes and comments from others in the community.

  17. Fix Tabbing issue when creating reconcile period. When creating a reconcile period I enter the first date of a Statement Date Range, hit tab and instead of going to the last date of the Statement Date Range where it should go, it weirdly tabs to the opening statement balance, forcing me to go back and click on the ending date box.

Thanks for your post here , Brenda.

Appreciate some customers prefer to use the keyboard to enter data. I've checked this in with our product team and can confirm, currently if you're entering a date via the keyboard and then press Tab, the cursor will move to the opening balances field.

Appreciate it's not the solution you're asking here, however atm you can press the return key to select the date from the date picker, which will automatically move the cursor to the end of the date field.

We're keeping a watchful eye on the interest of the idea to understand the interest in this.

  19. Chart of Accounts - the ledger codes (a) Entertainment-100% business and (b) Entertainment-0%. Can you change these categories? We accountants all know that the descriptions are misleading.

Almost all (unqualified) bookkeepers use (a) for client entertainment and claim VAT. Subsequently, accountants blindly treat this category as business expenses, reducing the taxable profit. (i.e. wrongly deduct it for corporation tax purposes) I cannot tell you how many cases I've seen in the past few years.

Please change the default categories to (a) Staff-only entertainment and (b) Client entertainment?

Hi Ray, appreciate your raising this through product ideas.

We'll get a sense of the interest in changing this within the default chart of accounts from the community here.

Just to confirm, while Xero offers a default chart of accounts, you can import your own chart of accounts to set these up as you prefer, or edit individual accounts within Xero.

  20. When using Tracking Categories on the balance sheet, we should be able to assign specific bank accounts to specific columns (or tracking categories). it would just be a feature where the balance "as of date" just displays in the column, regardless of all the prior transactions.

Additionally, when paying loans, if a tracking category is assigned for balance sheet tracking purposes using columns, the Bank Balance that is transferred to the note becomes a Liability on the balance sheet. This is crazy. You're essentially reducing the Note liability balance & then increasing it by the same amount as a negative…

It does sound like you've set up the Balance sheet in a bit of a niche way to track what you're after here, Sal. Appreciate you wanting more flexibility on how you filter tracking and being able to add a secondary filter for bank account.

I want to be open that this isn't something that we have plans for. We'll continue to track interest from your idea here, but would need to see quite a bit of community support to look at making a change for this in the report.
