Kia ora Xero Team,
I wanted to share some thoughts on the recent updates you’ve been rolling out. While I understand and appreciate the intent to keep Xero evolving and modern, some of the changes are unfortunately having the opposite effect of what they’re meant to achieve.
For example, moving core functions such as account transactions has made it harder to work efficiently. Instead of streamlining processes, I now find myself (and likely many others) having to pause and hunt for things that used to be intuitive. These disruptions ultimately make processing slower.
Timing is also a key concern. Many of these updates seem to land at the end or start of the month, right when businesses are busiest with invoicing. Even more importantly, I’d strongly urge you not to release significant changes around the end of March or beginning of April, as this is New Zealand’s financial year end. This is already a high-pressure period, and unexpected changes in Xero would only add unnecessary stress.
I’m aware Xero has a beta program to gather feedback, and that’s a great step. But I think there’s a risk that participants may sometimes be too eager to welcome change just for the sake of it. The best feedback is not always applause — sometimes it’s rejection, or a signal to leave things as they are. It’s worth ensuring that this balance is built into how beta input is interpreted, so changes genuinely improve workflows rather than disrupt them.
I completely understand the drive to be progressive and innovative, but from a user’s perspective, many of these recent changes don’t feel like improvements—rather, they feel like friction points. It would be fantastic if future updates could be tested more closely against the real workflows of business customers, and ideally timed for quieter periods in the accounting cycle.
Thank you for considering this feedback. I value Xero highly and want to see it continue to be the intuitive, efficient platform it’s known for.
