    Hi community, we appreciate everyone's engagement here. To confirm we have intentions of developing the purchase order experience, however developing Projects into this does have some complexities and requires work across both purchase orders and projects to deliver.

    Right now our initial focus is releasing the new purchase order experience to all users.

    While we don't have a timeframe for assigning PO's to Projects at this stage, this is top of our product teams radar and we'll communicate here as soon as there's an update.

    Apple seem to be able to pump out updates every 6 months - Elon has landed on the moon - Ive been using XERO now for 3 years - I havent seen a single update ...

    Weve been waiting for SIX YEARS for this ...

    In 2017 I still had an iphone5 .... Im about to get the i15 in September

    Meanwhile XERO users cant assign a PO to a Project ...

    We are being fobbed off with this "logical" request with automated responses - with no end in sight for this ...

    although other software packages offers this - somehow XERO have made this seem impossible / too difficult and they show no interest to offer this .... dont feel like they care about their users

    People have been patient for 10 years … I’m not convinced Xero have any plans to improve anything!

    Everyone.
    These requests for functionality are a red herring.
    I have added my support to numerous ‘critical’ gaps in the software

    From my research there are no plans to make any changes to the package

    I am seeing requests for functionality from 10 years ago and no response and no updates from XERO

    Our work around is to turn a PO into a draft BILL and then add the bill to the PROJECT
    Not ideal but it works!

    So Im looking at the logic on this

    Agreed - it would be great to assign a PO to a Project
    Our workaround is to create a draft bill from a PO

    Another way is If you are in your PROJECT - you can add QUOTES - which are reflected in the costs.

    If you change your perspective and look down the lens that you would assign items to a project because you have received and order and/or a quote acceptance

    Then it would make sense that you can create a PURCHASE from the QUOTE (which is already in the project)

    So what XERO have done is allow you to create a PO from a QUOTE -
    In PROJECTS

    From the top 3 dots on the right you can : COPY Quote to Bill / PO / Invoice / new Quote

    So maybe just look at this functionality from another point in the process!

    As a work around

    - we turn POs into draft bills

    - from the draft bill we can assingn items to a project - not ideal but its something so we can track costs / materials

    you could also - create a QUOTE add to a project
    - we havent tried it but you can copy a QUOTE to a PO

    just some thoughts !

    - we do like the feature to track time tho!

    Hi everyone, we want to thank you all for your meaningful feedback and detail of the uses you each have for enabling duplicate names for contacts.

    Right now, the contact name field is the key identifier that interacts with many other Xero features, and as such, changing how this field functions is not a small feat.

    As noted by others in the comments, some users have found adding unique characters or using the account number in the contact name useful.

    At this time we don’t have plans for developing the ability to have duplicate names of a contact in Xero. However, the work happening around core features might open the door for improvements like this down the line.

    For now, we'll keep a close watch on the support this idea continues to build, and we’ll make sure to share updates if anything changes.
