Hi community, some time passed since our last update in the thread here we do want to return and share - while our product teams explored possibilities for how we might represent Purchase Orders in Projects research has confirmed that there is underlying work needed to the platform Purchase Orders are built on before we can achieve any good outcomes of your needs here.
We have enthusiasm and a close eye remaining on the support for this, but want to be honest that this is not something that we’ll be able to focus our attentions on in the near future.

Weve been waiting for SIX YEARS for this ...
In 2017 I still had an iphone5 .... Im about to get the i15 in September
Meanwhile XERO users cant assign a PO to a Project ...
We are being fobbed off with this "logical" request with automated responses - with no end in sight for this ...
although other software packages offers this - somehow XERO have made this seem impossible / too difficult and they show no interest to offer this .... dont feel like they care about their users

People have been patient for 10 years … I’m not convinced Xero have any plans to improve anything!

Everyone.
These requests for functionality are a red herring.
I have added my support to numerous ‘critical’ gaps in the softwareFrom my research there are no plans to make any changes to the package
I am seeing requests for functionality from 10 years ago and no response and no updates from XERO

Our work around is to turn a PO into a draft BILL and then add the bill to the PROJECT

So Im looking at the logic on this
Agreed - it would be great to assign a PO to a Project
Our workaround is to create a draft bill from a POAnother way is If you are in your PROJECT - you can add QUOTES - which are reflected in the costs.
If you change your perspective and look down the lens that you would assign items to a project because you have received and order and/or a quote acceptance
Then it would make sense that you can create a PURCHASE from the QUOTE (which is already in the project)
So what XERO have done is allow you to create a PO from a QUOTE -
In PROJECTSFrom the top 3 dots on the right you can : COPY Quote to Bill / PO / Invoice / new Quote
So maybe just look at this functionality from another point in the process!

As a work around
- we turn POs into draft bills
- from the draft bill we can assingn items to a project - not ideal but its something so we can track costs / materials
you could also - create a QUOTE add to a project
- we havent tried it but you can copy a QUOTE to a POjust some thoughts !
- we do like the feature to track time tho!

The fact that this was raised TEN years ago and XERO havent bothered to do anything about this basic functionality - makes me completely loose faith in their commitment to this product ...
To put it into context : just look at what has been invented in the last 10 years - SpaceX's reusable space rockets - driverless cars - Venmo - Applewatches - ZOOM and yet XERO have failed to develop partial billing to a PO
Im lost for words
I hope people find this comment useful and in comparing of what mankind has achieved in the last years yet XERO have added nothing to their product ... and seem to be losing partners at an alarming rate

This has been an idea For almost 10 years. I don’t think Xero are even looking at these comments. All the items I have supported have been around for the same amount of time 7-10 years. Not one has been actioned by the Xero development team. Crazy huh

Hey community, thank you for your continued interest in this idea.
Wanted to provide an update here as it's been a while since we last spoke to duplicate contacts.
I do understand that, at face value, this seems like a quick fix. However, as the contacts screen interacts with many other parts of Xero, this work can not commence until the modernisation of other, related systems is complete.
Due to this, we do not expect support for duplicate contacts to be delivered in the coming short-term.
In the meantime however, we're keen to continue collecting feedback and votes on this idea, and I will update you here as soon as there's more work to share.

Apple seem to be able to pump out updates every 6 months - Elon has landed on the moon - Ive been using XERO now for 3 years - I havent seen a single update ...
