   Thanks for the feedback here, everyone. We get how being able to use custom Excel templates for Workpapers could save you time and power up your use of Xero Workpapers.

   Currently, you can export Workpapers data to Excel and then copy info into your preferred template. Allowing you to continue using your custom templates for now.

   The good news is we're delivering a new Workpapers solution, and our team are exploring how to enable this functionality within this.

   We'll post an update as soon as we have any news to share.

   Thanks so much for everyone's support in this idea. I'm excited to share we have good news! The team's been working hard on a brand new Workpapers solution where you'll be able to highlight accounts that need attention. 😊

   New Workpapers offers a seamless compliance workflow, making it easy to identify discrepancies with a rich working trial balance and in-built collaboration.

   Starting to rollout in Australia, and we'll be following with release to other regions in 2026. We'll be sure to keep you updated on the progress here as we get closer to the release dates for other regions.

   I'm excited to share a major update that addresses this feedback directly. At Xerocon in September 2025, we announced a new strategic partnership with BGL, a leader in compliance and practice software. Together, we are building a new, deeply integrated Workpapers solution that will be embedded directly within Xero Practice Manager (XPM) and Xero Tax. This new solution is central to our compliance and practice tools roadmap and is designed to provide a seamless experience, leveraging BGL’s expertise in document management. We are pleased to confirm that the ability to add, rename, and reorder supporting documents is a key feature of this new BGL-powered Workpapers solution. This functionality is already available in BGL’s core product, which forms the foundation of our new offering. This means you'll soon have the flexibility to organize your documents as you work, without the frustrating workarounds you've mentioned.The new solution will also enable direct data flow from Xero ledgers into Workpapers and then into Xero Tax, reducing manual entry and improving accuracy for your compliance workflows.
