    I'm excited to share a major update that addresses this feedback directly. At Xerocon in September 2025, we announced a new strategic partnership with BGL, a leader in compliance and practice software. Together, we are building a new, deeply integrated Workpapers solution that will be embedded directly within Xero Practice Manager (XPM) and Xero Tax. This new solution is central to our compliance and practice tools roadmap and is designed to provide a seamless experience, leveraging BGL’s expertise in document management. We are pleased to confirm that the ability to add, rename, and reorder supporting documents is a key feature of this new BGL-powered Workpapers solution. This functionality is already available in BGL’s core product, which forms the foundation of our new offering.     Thanks for the feedback here, everyone. We get how being able to use custom Excel templates for Workpapers could save you time and power up your use of Xero Workpapers.

    Currently, you can export Workpapers data to Excel and then copy info into your preferred template. Allowing you to continue using your custom templates for now.

    The good news is we're delivering a new Workpapers solution, and our team are exploring how to enable this functionality within this.

    We'll post an update as soon as we have any news to share.

    Hi everyone, thanks so much for your engagement here. Your insights are essential as we look to improve Xero. We understand the value of a more streamlined way of working.

    Right now, your current options are to request documents and information from your clients using the existing queries feature in Workpapers. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

    While we don't have this feature on our current roadmap, we'll continue to monitor this request, and make sure to keep you updated if there's any progress.
