We appreciate users wanting more flexibility in the data they show on invoices. At present our teams are re-developing some of the base features across Sales with particular focus on new invoicing.

At this time, there are no plans for developing a fields for a PO number in invoicing. Focus is on existing features in invoicing.

It's good to get a renewed understanding of interest here on Product Ideas, and if there's any news we will update on this here.

In the meantime, there is a way the custom template can be edited to rename the Reference field as a 'Purchase Order Number' field - see more in the discussion here

    Dear XERO TEAM,

You guys have done so many changes to Sales Invoices (some of which were not even required) but have not done the basic changes requested by the real people who are using them from last 3-4 years.

We have government contract where, to submit the invoice on their portal, It's mandatory to have the Purchase Order number - showing distinctively, as well as GRN Number issued by the warehouse, we delivered to, otherwise, our Invoice gets rejected and obviously never gets paid. (workaround of PO can be done but what shall we do for GRN, similarly, there can be some other necessity by another purchaser tomorrow, shall we keep creating separate template for every customer ?

Currently, we are downloading PDF and editing each PDF to do this.. which is very frustrating...

I don't seem to understand, why can't we give the users options to add additional custom fields on the Sales invoice, which are just plain simple "TEXT", similar to your "Reference" field. It doesn't need any calculations, no linking with anything. It won't affect any of your existing fields.

For God's sake, please listen to your Customer Feedback and add these options, as they are practically more important then other upgrades...

Thanks for the support and voting on this idea, team.

We're in the midst of developing a refreshed purchase orders experience, that gives us the basis for new features.

As you may have seen in other recent updates, we have a keen eye on developing backorders, recording part amounts billed and allowing negative stock on hand in Xero.

We'll be back to share another update as work progresses.

Last year when XERO acquired LOCATE, then i believed that this will be most important feature XERO will update at the earliest.

Having ability to dispatch/create multiple shipments/ deliveries against single Sales Order/Quote and Invoice only 1 time.
Similarly, having 1 PO and receiving the items in multiple GRNs, but still no improvement...

In fact this functionality will take the XERO itself to next level in terms of clients reach... Hope they act soon on this

Hi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.

There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.

Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.

    • Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
    • If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
    • Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero

    We appreciate…
