Hi everyone, appreciate the interest in the idea here.
We do want to highlight the ability to bulk recode transactions from one tracking option to another through Find & Recode - while only available to those with the Adviser role this will allow you to accomplish what's being asked here.
We'd recommend having a try in the demo co. if this is a new tools for you. 🙂

While not specifically in account codes, it'd be good to know if setting Tracking defaults on Contacts could be useful to you here?
While I'd recommend testing with the demo co. first - Find & Recode could be used to bulk assign tracking to items, post import.

Thank you for your on-going input and attention to the idea here, everyone.
We will keep you updated on change for being able to add new tracking options when using new invoicing here, however if there are other items that you'd like to see developed please do make sure you've joined and are following updates for these too.
I can confirm our team have work underway to improve the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoice. Part of this work includes the ability to add new tracking options without navigating away from the invoice.
For now we'll move this idea to working on it and I'll be back to share when there's more news of this going live for you all.

An error occurred while saving the comment Justine Challen commentedThe tracking categories in Xero are restrictive. Only being able to have to active tracking codes and then be limited to the amount that can be addted to each active tracking column is non-productive and frustrating. We use tracking to be able to do a P + L for each job. We have 1000 jobs per year.
Prior to Xero, we were using quickbooks. We are able to track without being restricted and it was an easier search function, with one click of a button.
Why is Xero restricting its customers when the customers are the ones that pay to use the platform?Justine Challen supported this idea ·
Tracking codes are one of the most important functions for a business. This needs to be given more importance. We should not be restricted to 100. We have 1000 jobs per year and we use the tracking codes to do P + L's for each job. Quickbooks can do it, no problem, without restrictions. Xero should be able to do it better than Quickbooks
