Hi everyone, we thank you for your contributions and valuable feedback through this idea.

We've now released a new Invoice Template editor that'll eventually replace the older standard branding. This is a feature we're continuing to develop, and intend to expand to other document types in time (including statements).

Our product team are already starting to look into support for statements in the new editor and plans are to use the Long Reference as I know some of the feedback here has requested.

Being upfront here, we don't have any plans to enhance docx templates to enable adding the invoice links, however we plan to support majority of our customers needs in customising documents with the new editor long term.

I see quite a few people have been requesting this feature for a while now. And I have been putting up with having to send statements with a standard template instead of my own custom template, which creates the scenario of a different look, making the custom template a little bit of a waste of time.
I don't know why this simple thing is elimated as an option for custom templates. It is also handy for a customer to click on the invoice to save time.
When you go to all the trouble of creating custom templates, one shouldn't miss out on various options.
I doubt this would be a hard thing to add a "placeholder field" to achieve this.
When can we hear an answer about this option being added?

Yes, I would also like to have links on Statements to the invoices using custom template. It is a most helpful feature. The standard template isn't always the best layout for various needs. I have in the past sent statements that didn't link to the invoices (esp needed when multiple invoices are listed), and customers have then asked for a copy of the invoices, which I then have to send individually. That is extra time and work.
Please incorporate a code to link to the invoices for the custom statement template.
