Appreciate why you'd like to be able to attach a file to an existing transaction from the detail you've shared here, Hitesh.
This isn't possible from the Files inbox atm, however as you may already be across - from the flip side you can attach a file from the Files inbox from within the transaction.
Do get this means having to go to the transaction to perform what you're asking and we'll get a sense of the interest in being able to attach to an existing transaction from within the Files inbox, here.

Hi Scott, I know it's been a while since you first raised this idea however we're rolling out a new Smart Document Capture feature in Files that may accommodate your needs here.
It's currently only available to UK organisation but will be released to other regions over the coming months.
Smart Document capture will read your uploaded file to help you create and autofill fields of your transactions, including Receive and Spend money where you may not wanter enter as a Bill or Invoice. 🙂

This is the holy grail and I don't understand why hubdoc, xero, and a host of others don't get it. Let me explain! Most bookkeepers auto download bank transactions and reconcile every month, which includes categorization (auto or manual). Most upload receipts in a variety of ways on various occasions. There are many softwares that analyze receipts and store them including hubdoc. Why would anyone in their right mind want to go back and find the receipts one by one to attach them into already categorized and reconciled transactions using 1. xero to pull receipt into or 2. hubdoc to "categorize" the receipt and "publish" it. Both ways are a total waste of time. Why not just match the transaction total and approximate the date and automatically upload file to transaction? Yes I realize there may be slight errors in exact dates and similar amounts but even if there is duplicate receipts uploaded once in a great while it doesnt matter since your not altering the data just looking at image.
