    Thanks for sharing this feedback. We agree that email notifications for upcoming VAT return deadlines would be useful, and we do plan to address this in the future. However, we’re unable to provide a timeframe for when this will be available at this stage.

    In the meantime, the VAT homepage widget shows your next return due date, along with a countdown showing the number of days remaining until the deadline.

    If you’re a Partner, you can also use Tax manager to view a list of your clients’ upcoming VAT obligations in one place, including their due dates.

    A VAT reminder feature in Xero would be a really helpful addition, especially since HMRC’s notifications can be inconsistent, non-customisable, and might not always be available. Many businesses depend on timely VAT submissions to avoid penalties, so having an automated email or in-app alert would provide peace of mind and help ensure nothing gets missed. This would be particularly useful for those handling multiple VAT returns across different companies or reporting periods. Given Xero’s strong automation capabilities, this feels like a natural and valuable improvement that would make life easier for many users.
