Hi everyone, we’ve taken time to review the suggestion to include custom fields for both invoices and contacts, and recognise the value it'd bring in helping users capture more detailed information and avoid manual processes.
However, with other focuses drawing the teams attention such as multiple addresses this idea is not on our current development roadmap.
As we continue to plan future roadmaps, being highly supported this idea will continue to be considered, however we want to be open about it's current position with you all here. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and for your ongoing participation in the Xero community. Any changes to this status will be shared with everyone on this idea.

I am new to Xero. I thought the accounting side of the program is far more robust and “accounting like” than QuickBooks could ever imagine being. However, QuickBooks is a lot more flexible and adaptive when it comes to form customization. I am very disappointed that there is not a “service date” field, none customizable, and, apparently, based on Kelly Munro’s comments, nothing on the table. It seems that the “building on beautiful” with its “the only constant is change,” the notion that Xero has to stay ahead of its competition, etc., is nothing more than “building on beautiful” is more lip service than customer service. What a shame!!

It really appears that Xero doesn't care what their users think. Even that pathetic accounting software QuickBooks offered flexibility where Xero seems to snub their clientele. I am newer to Xero and only here because of our new accounting firm. Not impressed so far.
