Thanks for sharing this idea – it's a really practical suggestion.
We get how easy it is to miss checking bank details, especially for suppliers you haven’t paid in a while. A quick alert or reminder after 3–6 months of no activity could be a great way to help catch changes (like new ownership or account updates) before a payment goes through.
Your idea’s now live for others to see, vote on, and add their thoughts. If this would make things easier for your team, feel free to share it around.

Hey community, thank you for your continued interest in this idea.
Wanted to provide an update here as it's been a while since we last spoke to duplicate contacts.
I do understand that, at face value, this seems like a quick fix. However, as the contacts screen interacts with many other parts of Xero, this work can not commence until the modernisation of other, related systems is complete.
Due to this, we do not expect support for duplicate contacts to be delivered in the coming short-term.
In the meantime however, we're keen to continue collecting feedback and votes on this idea, and I will update you here as soon as there's more work to share.

Hi Xero Support, we have 2 clients carry exactly the same name (eg. both of the client's full name is ALVIN CHUA), understand that Xero contact name serves as the unique identifier for individual client, we just want to know do we allowed to create 2 different contacts for exactly same name (eg. create twice for ALVIN CHUA) in Xero but identify them as different contact via contact account number (eg: HMC001 and HMC011)? And, for invoice import template, possible that Xero help to change the mandatory contact name to mandatory contact account number instead? Contact account number as unique identifier in invoice template better serve us for now and in future as we may have more and more clients carry the same name as the company grow.
