  1. Hi, there is a critical bug while doing reconciliation that make the app unusable. When trying to link a transfer made in a currency with an invoice made in another currency. The reconciliation doesn't show an error even though the recieved money is incorrect and doesn't match the invoice amount.

Hi Aym, I understand you've also recently connected with our specialists at Xero Support on this.

To share for others on the idea here, in this scenario if the statement line is a partial payment you can use the 'Split' option in bank reconciliation to enter the currency value the amount equates to.

At the bottom of the page you'll see a message highlighting where the calculated exchange rate is significantly different to the defined currency rate for the day.

Thanks for your confirmation, Margaret. I've slightly updated the title of our idea here, and want to confirm how this works.

If you've connected Hubdoc with your Xero organisation, once you've published an invoice to Xero from Hubdoc, and you're in a region that Xero supports eInvoicing you'll be able to send eInvoice to customers that have registered to receive eInvoices.

We have more detail on how eInvoicing with Xero works and the regions we currently support on our website.

  3. We use a a CRM system to create our invoice which is then linked to XERO. On our CRM system it itemised the components of the invoice this is also transferred. Is there a way on the xero invoice that this feature is not transferred so that the invoice only shows description and the total value of the job, ie NET, VAT GROSS.
We do not want the client to see the full breakdown.

We send statements to our clients which has a link to the invoice due to the issues of the itemised invoice our clients can see this…

Hi Dawn, this is possible with the use of an advanced branding theme. Using the DocX template you can customise the template to remove merge fields that you don't want to be shown to your customer.

Once set up as you like you'll want to upload the template to your branding theme in Xero, and then apply to contacts or to any individual invoices you'd like this template used.

  4. After uploading a file, one must select account and what it is (bill, invoice, expense, spend money)etc, before you see what it is. I should be able to open file, add all the details, while viewing the image/document

  6. The TB in Xero does not show lines that have a nil balance, however, you may need to drill down on a line that has a nil balance but may have have transactions (such as a control account). Could an option be added to the trial balance that would allow it to be displayed either with or without the nil balances?

Hi community, we've just released the ability to show nil(zero) balance accounts in reports.

Along with the Trial Balance report, this selection is also available for the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss (Income Statement), Statement of Cash Flows - Direct Method, Cash Summary, Movements in Equity, Blank report, and Report templates

You'll find you can turn this on as a toggle option from the More menu of the report itself, or there is a selection in Report preferences.

We appreciate you sharing your needs in this and joining in through Product Ideas.

  7. In the new invoicing, invoice date, drop down has tomorrow as an option, but in the drop down for due date this is not an option and have to go in to manually select the date which is time consuming this is something we use for most of our invoices.

Hi team, returning to the idea here we're going to shift this to delivered with the existing ability to enter the keyboard shortcut 'T+1' that'll auto select Tomorrows date in the Due Date field.

  8. Our client wants to export out of his customised software into xero. The developers have changed the software to fit the xero template but the tracking categories are not importing. I have spoken to a xero specialist and they believe it is not possible to have the tracking category automatically import. This would be a very useful feature for our client.

Sorry it seems there may be some misunderstanding there. It is possible to import a manual journal with Tracking applied.

You'll need to make sure the Tracking Category and Options are spelt exactly as they are in the organisation into the CSV file in the appropriate column.

I've provided an example on this discussion for a customer that was importing invoices, and may help you with this.

  9. We have deposit and cash accounts with no bank feed, I would like to be able to reconcile a whole month's transactions in one go rather than each individual line (mark as reconciled).
I know the balance at the end of the month is correct so I would like to be able to tick all transactions and 'mark as reconciled' in one hit.

Hi team, this is already possible. However in order to bulk mark as reconciled you'll need to enable this option.

When in a bank account in Xero, click the '?' icon at the top of the screen where you should see the option to turn on 'Enable Mark as Reconciled'. Its based on your user login so while this will turn it on for yourself, another user in the organisation will need to follow these actions to for themself.

  10. I want to hide the VAT line from below the subtotal on the 'Invoice email' template. I can hide it on the 'Invoice PDF' but not on the 'Invoice Email'. I'm not VAT registered so it currently says VAT 0%. But thus may look confusing to my customers. I would rather it was either hidden or removed.

Hi Sam, sorry we've not updated you here sooner. This is possible through your email settings. If you open the Email template that you apply to invoices you'll find a check box for 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary'. You'll want to deselect this option to remove that detail from showing in your invoice emails. Just a note it does strip back a bit of the formatting of the email but will help you achieve what you're after here.

  11. Hi Xero Support,

So basically, I would like to generate P&L by Tracking Category only for those categories which have activity during the month, those which have no activities (zero transaction), I would like to exclude it. So, my reports will be not too long and comprehensive.

Hi Budi, perhaps related to how you've set the report up however this is already possible with the 'Compare tracking categories' selection. For example if you select 10 tracking options to compare in your Profit & Loss and there is no activity for 2 of your tracking options within the period these columns will be excluded when the report is run.

  12. We require a bridging letter to the SOC Type 2 report to cover the period 1 November 2023 to 30 June 2024 for audit purposes. When querying Support I was referred back to the generic link to download the above report. How do I obtain a bridging letter for the remaining period?

Sorry we've not updated you here sooner, Alison. Since you initially started the idea here we've published an updated SOC2 report that supersedes the period you mentioned. If you need any further help with this, I'd recommend coming back into our Xero Support team they should be able to help you further. 😊

  13. When filling the GST to ATO through Xero and selecting to Lodge and save bill as draft, I can't find any billing information in the draft bill (nor approved bill) .I don't know where to pay this bill, I need the billing details which have not transferred with the bill.
I have to do this manually, save the pdf to desktop then attach to draft bill (do it the old way like 20 years ago)???
This should not be a new idea. It should be a minimum to have a draft bill with the related bill attachment.
    Can you do…

Hi there, when lodging directly through Xero, payment details are displayed at the top of the statement page once it's been lodged, including various payment options such as Bpay, credit card, and others.

Please note that these payment details are only available when you are connected to the ATO in Xero and lodging directly through the platform. This is because the payment details are provided directly by the ATO and are specific to your entity.

  14. Accountants need to to be able to amend the account to which an invoice or one of the lines on it is allocated, as we can with the edit function in Classic Invoicing. We also need to be able to edit the Tracking Category of an invoice or line on the invoice. This is vital for our organisation and likely to be so for others businesses where invoices and bills are booked by financial staff and checked by Accountants. The ability to copy a previous invoice is also used all the time and saves a huge amount of time. Also…

Appreciate your idea here, Michael. While it won't be possible to retain Classic invoicing, it is possible to Edit, Copy and Void in New Invoicing.

That said, a couple of the Copy to options (to a purchase order or bill) are planned for new invoicing but aren't there quite yet. You can stay updated on these through the ideas I've linked.

  15. The old version we used to be able to hit the Enter button whilst we are keying in the number keys to the right of our keyboard. In the new version we have come to realise that the Enter Button makes the decimal points pop up... instead of just being able to put in 50 for fifty dollars. I have been using the Enter key over near those numbers on the right since xero began and I am really hoping this is fixed ASAP if that is ok please

Thanks for raising this with us in product ideas, Leanne. Appreciate it's been a few months since you first started this, however just coming back across and testing with the current experience it appears this is now working as you'd like to see here - When entering data in fields of a row in the invoice, if you press enter you'll move across to the next field. Also within an amount field like Qty or Price when you type in a figure and press enter this will move fields and round the amount to the nearest whole number, unless you have inserted a decimal point.

Let me know if there's anything you feel I'm missing within your idea here. Thanks!

  16. I use repeating journal entries a lot and hence all the fields except debit and credits are filled out. Might be good to be able to use the keyboard arrows to quickly go from one row to the next in a column field and even be able to go from credit cell to debit cell by just clicking on the left arrow button.

Hi Brett, on doing a little more testing you can use the Enter key and the up and down arrows to move to the previous or next row of the same cell 😊

Just make sure you press Enter first and then you'll be able to move, up, down, left or right using the arrow keys.

  17. When an invoice is approved it must stay in the shape of an original table where the ledger account column and the tracking category columns are present, (presenting this information in a line with a small font is ridiculous).

Hi Melissa, coming across your idea here you may have already noticed that a couple of weeks ago we released an update to the view of an invoice so all details are now shown in separate columns (similar to classic). 😊

Thanks for your feedback and sharing how we could improve things for you, here.

  18. Offer option to lock last and previous year's data to prevent unintentional corruption of "good data".
Users would then have to slow down and take a great deal of care if changes to last and previous year's accounts is actually required.

Thanks for the responses to my last update, team. Based on this we'll shift this idea to delivered.

As previously shared - You can set lock dates that'll stop changes being made to transactions during a past period. Just as an alternative, if you'd like to keep a record of reports at a point in time you could also look to Publish reports in Xero. 🙂

  19. Could you please add "due in 10 days" in the drop down on an invoice?

If this is the common selection for due date you can set this up as a Default in your Invoice Settings, Denise. It's also possible to set this up as a default for individual contacts if you'd prefer too. 🙂

Alternatively, you might find it handy to use the shortcut when entering your invoices. You can simply type +10 in the due date field and it will set the date to 10 days after the Invoice Issue date.

Hi team, returning to the idea. To confirm, with standard branding you can simply choose whether the amounts shown on your invoices to customers are tax inclusive or tax exclusive.

In terms of default tax the Tax Amount column that can be shown on the invoice within Xero - it's possible to use an advanced branding theme and customise the DocX template to add the TaxOnLineAmount merge field to make this visible to your customer. If you'd prefer to not show Tax Rate or Tax name you can also use the advanced branding template to customise and remove these fields.
