  1. I would like to request the return of the nice simple professional looking GST Returns and Printouts as the new layout is unsuitable to be sent to Clients and printing out the GST Returns and details now appears spread over more pages.

Thanks for your feedback here, everyone. We appreciate hearing what our customers need, and listening to feedback our team have made a change to the layout of the GST Transactions by tax rate view, so this is now similar to the previous report in a portrait layout 😊

  2. Codes are set up as ***-yy which isn't logical to type. I guess it's an accounting convention but I can type 501.50 much easier (one hand on the numeric keypad and no need to move it to the'-') than 501-50.

For non-accountants, and IT people 501.50 is the logical way to type and enter these codes.

  3. Provide a FULL list of ALL reports!

There are SOOOO many reports out there that I am not aware of, as they are all hidden! Unless you know the exact name of the report they are useless to search. I have just spent a wasted few days between facebook and support trying to pull a report similar to Supplier Statement. I did a search and of course there is nothing called that. I eventually contacted support to find out how I could get a Supplier Statement and was told to use a "Supplier Bill Activity". I would never have guessed…

Totally get the keywords our customers look for or search and the names of Xero's reports may not always match. We've making use of generative AI and have released this to search within the Xero help menu - Where possible Xero will auto generate a response based on your search, and otherwise you'll see the most relevant content from Xero Central.

Taking the example in the idea here, when searching 'supplier statement' the first relevant result helps a user understand what reports will help them get an understanding of supplier activity in Xero.

In terms of listing reports in the reports centre - Some of Xero's reports such as the Supplier Bill Activity are a drill down report. While it won't be listed on the reports centre as a default, you can click the 3 dot menu next to the Contact Transactions - Summary report to view sub reports. If…

  4. Hi, there is a critical bug while doing reconciliation that make the app unusable. When trying to link a transfer made in a currency with an invoice made in another currency. The reconciliation doesn't show an error even though the recieved money is incorrect and doesn't match the invoice amount.

Hi Aym, I understand you've also recently connected with our specialists at Xero Support on this.

To share for others on the idea here, in this scenario if the statement line is a partial payment you can use the 'Split' option in bank reconciliation to enter the currency value the amount equates to.

At the bottom of the page you'll see a message highlighting where the calculated exchange rate is significantly different to the defined currency rate for the day.

Thanks for your confirmation, Margaret. I've slightly updated the title of our idea here, and want to confirm how this works.

If you've connected Hubdoc with your Xero organisation, once you've published an invoice to Xero from Hubdoc, and you're in a region that Xero supports eInvoicing you'll be able to send eInvoice to customers that have registered to receive eInvoices.

We have more detail on how eInvoicing with Xero works and the regions we currently support on our website.

  6. We use a a CRM system to create our invoice which is then linked to XERO. On our CRM system it itemised the components of the invoice this is also transferred. Is there a way on the xero invoice that this feature is not transferred so that the invoice only shows description and the total value of the job, ie NET, VAT GROSS.
We do not want the client to see the full breakdown.

We send statements to our clients which has a link to the invoice due to the issues of the itemised invoice our clients can see this…

Hi Dawn, this is possible with the use of an advanced branding theme. Using the DocX template you can customise the template to remove merge fields that you don't want to be shown to your customer.

Once set up as you like you'll want to upload the template to your branding theme in Xero, and then apply to contacts or to any individual invoices you'd like this template used.

  7. After uploading a file, one must select account and what it is (bill, invoice, expense, spend money)etc, before you see what it is. I should be able to open file, add all the details, while viewing the image/document

  9. Why do we have to switch back to classic to apply and over payment - This feature needs to be in the New Invoicing System. It creates a massive amount of clicking to get all the features needed.

Hi everyone, we have now released this within new invoicing 🎉

You'll now see that when you apply a payment within new invoicing, if the amount entered exceeds the invoice total Xero will note this and offer the option to create an Overpayment.

Thank you to everyone that voted on this idea and shared the importance of this in your workflow.

  10. The TB in Xero does not show lines that have a nil balance, however, you may need to drill down on a line that has a nil balance but may have have transactions (such as a control account). Could an option be added to the trial balance that would allow it to be displayed either with or without the nil balances?

Hi community, we've just released the ability to show nil(zero) balance accounts in reports.

Along with the Trial Balance report, this selection is also available for the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss (Income Statement), Statement of Cash Flows - Direct Method, Cash Summary, Movements in Equity, Blank report, and Report templates

You'll find you can turn this on as a toggle option from the More menu of the report itself, or there is a selection in Report preferences.

We appreciate you sharing your needs in this and joining in through Product Ideas.

  11. In the new invoicing, invoice date, drop down has tomorrow as an option, but in the drop down for due date this is not an option and have to go in to manually select the date which is time consuming this is something we use for most of our invoices.

Hi team, returning to the idea here we're going to shift this to delivered with the existing ability to enter the keyboard shortcut 'T+1' that'll auto select Tomorrows date in the Due Date field.

Thanks again, everyone! I can now confirm we've officially released these changes to all users. 🤗

As a quick recap of what's been released - From the Reconcile page your bank account now shows up to 50 statement lines at once.  There is also a search bar at the top of the page where you can enter details from your statement lines including; Payee, Reference, Description, Transaction type, Cheque No. and Analysis code. Within the search you have filters to help you narrow down the date range or  amounts that you want to reconcile - For more insight on recent changes see our Blog.

We really appreciate your engagement of this over time and sharing with us through the Product Ideas site, here.

  13. In the new invoicing it is possible to add a customers credit onto their invoice from the bottom of the screen however the old version would have a pop up asking if you would like to apply the credit.

Can we change new invoicing so that it pops up asking for confirmation as this is easily missed.

Hi everyone, as shared a little earlier here when you start entering an invoice for a customer that has credit you'll receive a notification in the bottom right.

Once you approve the invoice you'll receive a prompt to let you know that you have credit for the contact and would you like to apply it.

If you're not receiving this prompt this would be unexpected behaviour. We'd still like to help you with this, but it's best for our specialists at Xero Support to get more information 1-on-1 and investigate this with you. You can reach out to them through the Contact Xero Support option throughout Xero Central (bottom of the page).

  14. Our client wants to export out of his customised software into xero. The developers have changed the software to fit the xero template but the tracking categories are not importing. I have spoken to a xero specialist and they believe it is not possible to have the tracking category automatically import. This would be a very useful feature for our client.

Sorry it seems there may be some misunderstanding there. It is possible to import a manual journal with Tracking applied.

You'll need to make sure the Tracking Category and Options are spelt exactly as they are in the organisation into the CSV file in the appropriate column.

I've provided an example on this discussion for a customer that was importing invoices, and may help you with this.

  15. We would like the ability to reconcile transactions against a statement in addition to just reconciling from the bank feeds.

There have been so many issues with bank feeds, that often we find the statement balance does not match Xero. The issue with running the reconciliation report is that some banks will have some transactions from the closing date in the current statement and some of them on the next statement. The only way for us to break it out and match the balance is to export transactions to a spreadsheet and then change the date of those transactions in…

Hey everyone, thanks for your patience! We're excited to announce that period reconciliation is now available for all US and CA organizations.

As per my last update, you'll find a new "Reconcile Period" tab within your bank accounts. If you have the Standard or Advisor role, you can easily enter the statement period dates and balances. Xero will then automatically display and select all transactions within that timeframe. Once you've reconciled the period, you can close it to ensure no transactions are accidentally deleted or unreconciled.

We know that many of you in other regions are also keen to access this feature. So we can track this separately, I've created a new idea and have added all users that had voted here (outside of CA and US) to. If there are any updates we will share news with you all there.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  16. We have deposit and cash accounts with no bank feed, I would like to be able to reconcile a whole month's transactions in one go rather than each individual line (mark as reconciled).
I know the balance at the end of the month is correct so I would like to be able to tick all transactions and 'mark as reconciled' in one hit.

Hi team, this is already possible. However in order to bulk mark as reconciled you'll need to enable this option.

When in a bank account in Xero, click the '?' icon at the top of the screen where you should see the option to turn on 'Enable Mark as Reconciled'. Its based on your user login so while this will turn it on for yourself, another user in the organisation will need to follow these actions to for themself.

  17. I want to hide the VAT line from below the subtotal on the 'Invoice email' template. I can hide it on the 'Invoice PDF' but not on the 'Invoice Email'. I'm not VAT registered so it currently says VAT 0%. But thus may look confusing to my customers. I would rather it was either hidden or removed.

Hi Sam, sorry we've not updated you here sooner. This is possible through your email settings. If you open the Email template that you apply to invoices you'll find a check box for 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary'. You'll want to deselect this option to remove that detail from showing in your invoice emails. Just a note it does strip back a bit of the formatting of the email but will help you achieve what you're after here.

  18. We require a bridging letter to the SOC Type 2 report to cover the period 1 November 2023 to 30 June 2024 for audit purposes. When querying Support I was referred back to the generic link to download the above report. How do I obtain a bridging letter for the remaining period?

Sorry we've not updated you here sooner, Alison. Since you initially started the idea here we've published an updated SOC2 report that supersedes the period you mentioned. If you need any further help with this, I'd recommend coming back into our Xero Support team they should be able to help you further. 😊

  19. When filling the GST to ATO through Xero and selecting to Lodge and save bill as draft, I can't find any billing information in the draft bill (nor approved bill) .I don't know where to pay this bill, I need the billing details which have not transferred with the bill.
I have to do this manually, save the pdf to desktop then attach to draft bill (do it the old way like 20 years ago)???
This should not be a new idea. It should be a minimum to have a draft bill with the related bill attachment.

Hi there, when lodging directly through Xero, payment details are displayed at the top of the statement page once it's been lodged, including various payment options such as Bpay, credit card, and others.

Please note that these payment details are only available when you are connected to the ATO in Xero and lodging directly through the platform. This is because the payment details are provided directly by the ATO and are specific to your entity.

  20. Accountants need to to be able to amend the account to which an invoice or one of the lines on it is allocated, as we can with the edit function in Classic Invoicing. We also need to be able to edit the Tracking Category of an invoice or line on the invoice. This is vital for our organisation and likely to be so for others businesses where invoices and bills are booked by financial staff and checked by Accountants. The ability to copy a previous invoice is also used all the time and saves a huge amount of time. Also…

Appreciate your idea here, Michael. While it won't be possible to retain Classic invoicing, it is possible to Edit, Copy and Void in New Invoicing.

That said, a couple of the Copy to options (to a purchase order or bill) are planned for new invoicing but aren't there quite yet. You can stay updated on these through the ideas I've linked.
