  1. We have noticed with 'new' Xero that standard products & services we have set up now print on our quotations with the value of zero under Quantity, Price & Total columns.
    For us, most of these services are just standard statements and do not require a Quantity, Price or Total but we cannot remove the zero's.
    It looks strange on a quotation to include a zero value next to a statement which doesn't refer to values,
    'Old' zero didn't do this and would suggest that new Xero be updated to allow standard paragraphs to be added without values - as…

    Thanks for your feedback, Gail - sorry we've not updated your idea here sooner. The team did make some improvements to Quotes one released. You should find you can now add description only lines that will not show any values if no quantity or price entered.

    Appreciate your input here, Jeffrey and Tom. We’re aware that there was an issue around the time of your post here, where some users are unable to use global search on their Xero Dashboard. But our team has identified and resolved this (see our status page for more information). Sorry for the inconvenience.

    If there’s any widespread issue, we’ll post it on our status, so it’s good for you to check it as a point of reference. And if you still have issues with this, make sure to contact Xero Support so you can get an individual troubleshooting session with them.

    Sorry for not catching your idea here sooner, Tahlia. Appreciate the idea and this was fast to follow the Expense by Contact report. 


    Our report team have now added a chart to rhe Income by Contact report so you can view your top 10 customers the same as you can suppliers from the Expenses by Contact report. 🙂

    Hi community, this is possible for invoices with the use of the discounts column where you'd only enter a discount for particular line items. With new invoicing you'll have the option to enter a discount as either a % or amount. 

    Alternatively if you'd just like Xero to calculate the unit price and not need this shown you could use Xero's inbuilt calculator to enter an equation that'll automatically calculate the price for you based on a given amount. 

    We have a separate thread going for the ability to add discounts to bills (accounts payable invoices) that some of you may like to join for any updates.

    Hello everyone, we want to round back here and let you know, you can already achieve this idea by either using Payable Invoice Summary & Detail or Aged Payable Detail & Summary report, as we’ve mentioned earlier. From there, you’ll be able to summarise/group the report by Contact Group.

    That being said, we’ll update the status of this idea. Welcome to raise a new idea if you’re thinking about different functionalities.

  6. Hi Team,

    When entering one quote that runs into multiple pages I always save the work intermittently. Just incase there is a computer software or power issue. However the two options available are Save & close and Save and Add another. Could you please add the feature to Save and Continue? It will be a great help. Also Please reconsider reintroducing the Shortcuts (Using the tab) rather than the mouse click option for every item. It is not an efficient way.

    Hey Shirani 👋 when creating a quote in Xero, you have three options for saving.


    As you’ve already found, you can ‘save and continue’ or ‘save and add another’ but both of these will navigate away from your page.


    Instead, you can click the standalone save button. This will save your progress without navigating away from the page 😊

  7. Include a report that allows you to roll up expenses on a per contact basis but only for certain accounts. We would love to see what our spend is on software and hosting costs by vendor.

  8. In the new employment tabs in payroll especially painful if you have 100+ pay items and have to scroll down the list and MANUALLY click the item you want.

    Would like to start typing the name and have it jump down the list to that item, press tab and move on to the next section.

    Too much clicking involved.

    The 'Ordinary earnings rate' dropdown box supports text search as you've described 😊


    You may have to clear the field by clicking the x next to your earnings rate first, but once that's complete, you can type in your earnings item and select it from the results.

  9. If you take $20 out of your own wallet and put it in your pocket, that's not "Cash Received," but the Xero Executive Summary report treats it that way.

    Transfers between cash accounts that you own (e.g. between two checking accounts) show as "Cash Received" and "Cash Spent" in the ExecSum report. This is clearly wrong.

    Please fix this. If you insist this is somehow a feature, please add an option to exclude internal transfers from the Cash section of the report.

    Putting it another way: the Cash Received and Cash Spent numbers should reflect what was actually received and…

    Thanks for bringing this up here, Rob. This is something the team quickly drew their attention to, as well - You'll find we've recently released a update for the new Executive Summary report to exclude transfers from 'Cash received' and 'Cash spent'. 🙂

  10. When previewing the attachments / supporting documents, it would be great to be able to move the preview onto a different screen so can more easily mark of items as correct as reviewer, without having to download/ open.

  11. Auto create entries for items included in “Amounts the Tax Offices owes you” and under the accounts of PAYGW, GST and PAYG, when an activity statement is created in Xero.

    Purpose: Save time not having to manually create once Activity Statement is completed

    Hi everyone, roll out for this release has begun and will ramp up really quickly so you should all have it within the next couple of days. 😊

    We've released a new feature that allows you to easily create a draft bill or invoice directly from the BAS (Business Activity Statement) statement page after finalising or filing it for the period.

    The created transaction will be pre-populated with most of the required details such as contact details, account, amount, and description, for you to review and approve. You'll be able to view the transaction directly from the BAS return, or through Invoice and Bills. 🎉

  14. Ability to compare a custom period, with the same period the year before.

    For example be able to compare a profit and loss for July 2021 - March 2022, with the same period the year before, not just the 9 months before.

    There seems to be the function to do this with a year-to-date profit and loss, however if you want to have an end date prior to today then it doesn't seem to work.

    Hi Rebecca, we've revamped comparative periods in the new reports to provide greater flexibility. Allowing you to customise what comparisons show when running date range reports. 

    So now, you can compare with the same exact period ( eg 10 days), months, quarters or years. Dive on in for a try and let us know what you think! 


  15. You've created these great packs or ability to create one, but for majority of businesses when they are reporting for the month that was in a meeting they want a bank reconciliation or a transactions listing with opening bank balance, transactions and closing bank balances!
    Can we please have this as an option to add into the Report Packs.

    Hi Gay, just popping in with a little update - that banner has now been removed!


    You can still find the 'Sick Leave Review' tab in your employees list, but you'll no longer see the banner while processing pay 😊




  17. Allow set up of payroll whilst waiting for agency status to come through from HMRC.
    Currently wont allow you to pass the HMRC page and start setting up payroll until you have agency access

    Hi community, appreciate the idea here. 


    Although you do need to enter Office/Reference details through payroll setup these can be updated later on.

    Instead, you can enter 'dummy' details. Then once you receive the correct credentials return to update these. 😊

  18. Move the NZBN field so that it is in the "Contact Details" section instead of the "Financial Details" section. This would enable the NZBN to be visible to, and sync with, Hubspot. As it stands the bi-directional Xero-Hubspot integration cannot see the NZBN field.

    Hi Tony 👋, the team have made some smaller changes since the release of the new Contacts add/edit screens. 

    We appreciate the feedback from our customers and based on some of this the team have moved the NZBN field back within the Contact details section. 🙂

  19. Link the new Account Transaction report so it appears when drilling down from another report or the Dashboard watchlist.

    Clicking on an amount within a report or the Dashboard watchlist goes to the old Account Transactions report. When this version of the report is no longer available Xero have advised that drilling down to see transactions will only work on a report that has been published. It seems wrong to need to publish a report to be able to access this basic function.

    Hi Delwyn, back to confirm that redirects from the Account watchlist will now take you to the new version of reports. 😁

    Which one will be driven  by the detail in my earlier response. 

  20. Could you reintroduce a very important item in the new Account Transactions reports the Opening Balances in the Asset / Liability accounts. The Old report has this feature and it is essential for reconciling accounts such as Super Payable, PAYG Payable. In view of Old reports being discontinued next year, this will be a major issue.
