Cancel a Draft Invoice from Invoice Screen
Bring back the Cancel Button in the Draft Invoice Screen please. We are all human and make mistakes and sometimes it is better to cancel and start again. In the new invoicing you need to exit and delete the draft - losing another invoice number. Please reinstate. Thanks
1 voteIn new invoicing this has been renamed to 'Delete'. You can do this from the 3 dot menu, Barbara 😊
Here's a pic of where you'll find this option.

Add Another Invoice Link
The Add Another Invoice link is not in the New Invoicing. This is really handy and it would be great if it could be reinstated. Thanks
1 voteHi Barbara, from the Approve & email option you can drop down to Approve and add another 🙂

How to record and reconcile a part payment on a Bill
The client has been using Hubdoc for uploading the bills into Xero. How can we record the part payment for the bill during the reconciliation in Xero please?
In general, we use "Split" to record the part payment but we are unable to see the split on Hubdoc bill1 voteHi Just a heads-up that this is a public forum for discussing improvements to Xero, rather than finding support with using Xero.
To do this you could:
- View the bill and scroll to the bottom to the 'Make a payment' section.
- Record the part payment here, directly on the bill.
- Finally, use Find & Match to reconcile the bank statement line with the part payment.
If you need any further assistance with this, or anything else in Xero, please raise a case with some details on Xero Central, and our Support team will be happy to help.

Xero mobile app - Take photos of receipts and auto fill data
Allow the Xero app to take photos of receipts at the time of purchase. To reduce the number of steps to get a photo of a receipt attached to a transaction.
Ideally then when reconciling credit card transactions, the receipts will already be in Xero and they would pop up as a suggestion, based on the date of the transaction with the date the photo was taken.
It would also be ideal if you could view the receipt whilst coding, like it does when you are viewing a draft bill to pay.
3 votesHi Lauren, this is possible with the Xero Expenses through the Xero Me app. When you enable receipt analysis, you can take a photo and Xero will pull the detail out of the receipt to enter into the fields of your expense - Find out more on this here.

Invoice template defaults per Customer
It would be great to have an invoice template default set up per Customer in their Contact settings.
2 votesHey Kyle 👋 this is already possible. You should see the option when editing a contact under the Sales defaults 😊

New Invoicing - Ability to remove email 'Review and pay' buton
Allow change to email format so that the VERY LARGE $X,*** 'Review and pay' button can be removed - as it can in the Classic invoicing. I have a large client who has stated they will leave Xero, rather than send emails in this format. They find it too aggressive.
3 votesHi everyone, appreciate the feedback here. Right now it is possible to hide the 'Review and Pay' buttons completely from the Email Settings in the Organisation settings. From here you can disable the 'Include quick link to online invoice and detail summary' setting to hide the payment buttons entirely.
Just to note, this does strip back the email formatting so you might like to send yourself a copy to see what this then looks like once the option has been disabled. Thanks

Projects - View quote and invoices linked to project
Why does the Project record not cross-reference the invoice number when the project is invoiced?
And why do they not have dates that they were created or invoices?2 votesJust rounding back, we'll shift this idea to delivered. For anyone coming across the idea here - Currently within a Project you can click on the Quotes & invoices tab to view Invoices that have been raised with the Project assigned and this will also show the Invoice and Due dates. 😊

Payables report
Create a payables report in Xero accounting software that shows all future committments due within a date range that includes supplier credit notes
1 voteHi Lea, this is already possible with the Payables Invoice Details or Summary reports. It's based on the date range set for the report. So if you set a date in the future you'll be able to see all activity that has been entered with a date in that period.

New invoicing - Option to mark as sent when Print PDF
We have many suppliers that reject invoices if we send them direct from Xero. Hence we have to download a PDF copy and email it manually from our finance inbox. This process now takes 5 clicks as opposed to one click in classic invoicing. The new process is to click "Approve & Email", but then to exit this screen. Then move across the screen to the left top corner and check the box to mark it as "sent", then move all the way back to the right and click "Print PDF" and then wait for it to open in a…
12 votesHi community, today we released the ability to mark an invoice as sent when printing in new invoicing. Now, when you select to 'Print PDF' you'll receive a prompt to ask if you'd like to mark the invoice as sent - see in my image below. Thanks again for your engagement on this here 😊

Bank Reconciliation - Allocate Payments to a Supplier's account
I do not know if there is a way to do this if so it is not too simple. I would like to allocate a payment from the Bank to a Supplier but to not allocate it against any invoices. This would not be a new invoice but would sit on there account so it is easy to know what they owe a supplier. This idea would be similar to Sage "Payment on Account" which is very simple to do on Sage.
2 votesHi team, the way to do this in Xero would be to reconcile the payment as an overpayment or a prepayment. This would then be credit on a suppliers account that could be applied to a bill at a later date.
Best to connect with your adviser if you're unsure which transaction type you should record these as, however we have a bit more information on these here and here respectively. 😊

New Invoicing - Populate Tracking column from settings in contact's Sales Defaults
Hi, the new version of invoicing will increase my work load. at present when you open an invoice to approve it, it is easy to select the tracking categories, as it is linked to the client profile. in the new version it does not and you have to go through the list in a drop down!
Also we have an issue when we change the invoice date. for example and Invoice raised on the 5th Feb should be paid on the 6th March. If we change the invoice date from the 5th to the 4th, it does not change the…
3 votesThanks for your feedback on the idea here, with the way new invoicing works once you add a contact, any sales defaults saved for that contact in their record will be applied.
Adding a Qty or Price for a line will trigger Tracking defaults saved for them to be automatically applied. Similarly this applies to the any default saved for Due Date. If you have saved a due date that is driven by the invoice Issue date you should see this update if you change the Issue date on the invoice.
If this is not behaviour that you're experiencing please do raise a case with our team of specialists so we can take a closer look into this with you.

New Invoicing - Receive payment for an invoice before sending it
Immediately after creating an invoice, you approve it, then a series of boxes appears at the bottom of the screen allowing you to receive the payment. Once payment is applied you can send the receipt to the customer. This is ESSENTIAL for accepting cash payments or any payment made at the time of delivery but before sending the invoice. Please add this feature from OLD invoicing to New invoicing.
3 votesHi Fiona, it's not necessary to send an invoice before adding a payment. Once an invoice is created in new invoicing the default option is 'approve and send' but 'approve' can be selected instead. A payment can then be added and receipt sent, with a similar workflow to classic invoicing.
Atm there's no way to set the default approve option for an invoice. However, this has been raised as an idea across here if you'd like to add your vote. 🙂

New Invoicing - Populate Discount from Contact's Sales Defaults
New Invoicing: In the classic invoicing, I can click in the discount area and the discount set in a customer's profile is automatically entered. I don't want to have to go in and look up each customer's discount every time I create an invoice. In the new invoicing, when I click in there it just waits for me to type something in.
7 votesHi team, from new invoicing once you add a contact any sales defaults you have saved will be applied. Simply enter a Qty or Price and the discount saved for that contact will be applied.
If you're not seeing the discount column on your invoice, click the show/hide fields on the left above the invoice body and make sure this has been selected.

New Invoicing - 1-click option to delete lines
In Classic Invoicing there is an X to delete a line. In New Invoicing I have to click on the 3 dots then select Remove from the 2 options that are displayed (Save to inventory or Remove). Please can the function of a single click on the X be retained.
34 votesThanks for your feedback and tuning into the idea here, everyone. Our team have been doing a lot of work in this space to iterate on new invoicing and improve the experience for our customers.
With one of our most recent updates the team implemented a change to the way you delete lines of your invoice. You'll now see a small 'bin' icon at the end of each line enabling you to easily delete lines as needed, without any extra clicks. 🙂

New Invoicing - Calendar lookup to select Issue Date
When selecting the date, why only have today and tomorrow, not the calendar. A lot of the time when entering an invoice, it will be dated to a previous day. Why not have the calendar and these options? Or have yesterday as an option.
So far, this new invoicing is a mess and definitely doesn't make life easier. Improvements are needed.
5 votesHi community, appreciate things are a little different between classic invoicing and new. While we've created common date selections when entering dates using new invoicing you can still pick any date you need.
From the date field, under Today and Tomorrow, is 'Pick another date', clicking this will open a calendar popup so you can select the date you need. You may also find some of our date entry shortcuts useful when entering this information in Xero.

New Invoicing - Show Branding theme on an approved invoice
With the new invoicing the branding theme is not available which is an important feature for us since for different clients we had different branding theme. Can this be added to the new invoicing system? Please refer to the attached. We cannot switch to this new invoicing if branding them is not added and it seems in September we will not have a choice. Clicking on edit invoice is not a solution. This info was available with the old system without clicking edit invoice
68 votesUnderstand the sentiment and urgency in wanting this feature available. We've just released an update so now you can view the branding of an invoice when viewing. This is visible on invoices with Awaiting Payment and Paid status 🙂
Thanks for your feedback and staying across the progress with us here.

SG - Manually edit GST amount
There is a need to manually edit the amount of GST paid instead of using Xero's calculation. For example, for credit card merchant fees, merchants calculate GST based on individual transactions and sum up the total GST payable, add onto the merchant fees for the total amount payable. As Xero calculate GST based on the total amount, there is a difference in the GST payable. Other accounting systems allows you to adjust, and it will automatically adjust the total amount. Without this feature, we have to use either rounding (for below 0.10c) or add a new line item. The problem…
2 votesHi 👋 Xero calculates the GST on each line item in invoices, bills and other transactions. The GST is then rounded to the nearest cent. The total GST is the sum of these amounts.
We don't offer alternative rounding methods but if you have the global or Singapore versions of Xero you can enter a tax adjustment if you want to.
Simply,
- Select the Tax Exclusive option in the Amounts are field.
- Edit the amount shown in the Tax Amount box - if this box isn't showing, click the + symbol next to the Tax Rate heading
We have more information in our article here.

New Invoicing - Option to leave Discount field on or off permanently
A function that was used 100% of the time in classic invoicing
2 votesHi Amy, although discount column may not be visible when you first use new invoicing, you can use the Show/hide fields option to choose which fields and columns are displayed - including Discount, and Save your preferences.
Next time you create an invoice for a customer using new invoicing you'll see your field preferences from the last invoice should be in the new one.

New Invoicing - Importing csv invoices
New Invoicing - Import invoices from csv file as can be done in Classic Invoicing screen
13 votesHi everyone, this is actually possible with no change between classic and new invoicing.
You can import new invoices through the Sales overview or Invoice page, and is done with the use of a CSV file. We have some steps you can follow across in Xero Central.

Reporting - Report that shows bank entries with the same value
It would be great to have a report that would highlight any payments paid from the bank account with the same value.
2 votesHi team, you could use the Account Transactions Report here. When you run this report, select the bank account, then sort the results by the relevant amount column, this will group any items for the same amount together.
