AU Tax - Ability to include client phone number
When I use Xero tax it pre-populates the tax agent number overriding the previous entry in the previous year. We want this to be the client phone number due to we want the ATO to contact them.
Every tax return it is taking manual labour to change the phone number from the pre-populated phone number.
We'd like the option to pre-populate the client phone number like other client information.
We'd prefer to not have to delete any details to replace the phone number and this was resulting in tax return error.

We moved from Reckon and I am surprised as to how different tax preparation with Xero is.
Some of the aspects that need improvement are:
1) Daytime phone number should be of the client and not the practice. There is no way to change this.
2) There should be a menu item for mandatories, like we have with Reckon where all the mandatory common items where a 0 needs to be placed is lumped up in one section to avoid toggling between different sections and entering manually each time.
3) Business worksheet could be made simpler by placing a 0 automatically where no information has been entered by the tax agent but information is mandatory.
4) A simple tax estimator/calculator should be available so that when a client makes a routine inquiry as to how much their tax estimate is, we could quickly calculate using simple tweaks such as ticking on whether the client is a resident/non-resident; medicare levy/surcharge exempt to provide a reasonable estimate.
5) A help section should be available with each tax item to educate accountants of the rules/laws pertaining the claiming of deduction pertaining a specific tax label.
6) Business worksheet could be made simpler by asking a question after the number of businesses to also ask if the business was primary production or non-primary production and if not a primary production then all aspects pertaining PP would be greyed out.
7) The summary of tax calculation should bifurcate the various tax items rather than having to go to estimates and click on other liabilities to check if medicare levy and surcharge have been calculated correctly.
All of the above were available on Reckon, but non-existent on Xero.
I have only started using Xero this year occasionally and have to say my experience of using Xero is no where close to the simplicity of use of our previous software as yet.
Hopefully these feedbacks will bring about meaningful changes to the future updates.

We just moved from HandiTax to Xero Tax and am very surprised how backwards Xero is at this.
Support have advised that the mobile number and email address fields have to be manually entered ever though this data is in XPM.
For the day time number, shouldn't this be the clients number and not the
tax agent's as it appears in the clients contact details section when you print the return?Seems a little backwards to me...

Additionally, the client's email address should automatically prepopulate if the contact has their email address. This will save time, and every minute counts
