Workpapers - Excel integrations vs Attachments
One of the best features in MyWorkpapers is the Excel online integration. When we upload a working paper or source document, it automatically opens in Excel Online, allowing us to use templates such as GST reconciliations or borrowing cost schedules directly within the platform. Any updates made to the spreadsheet save automatically and remain linked to the file, making the process far more efficient than attaching Excel files manually. In Xero working papers, when an Excel file is attached, clicking on it prompts a download; if changes are required, the file must then be edited, saved, and re-uploaded, which is time-consuming and changes can be missed or saved in the wrong place. With direct Excel Online integration, you can simply click the link, make updates, and have them instantly reflected in the working papers without the need to download, reattach, or manage multiple versions. I think if the spreadsheet that is currently there had all the excel features like tabs and formulas it may also resolve the this. In short live spreadsheets.
Thanks for this feedback, everyone. Instead you could use a live link and attach it as a URL. This way you can always open it via the link and any changes are still reflected when you click into the link in future.
We'll be continuing to add functionality to the spreadsheet within the workpaper itself.
