Thanks for your expressions and feedback in a bulk download or print facility for Files (either from the Files library or at an individual transaction level)
We know that bulk operations can be handy, however at this time we have no plans to develop this functionality. We know it might seem like a small feat, however often even small change is more tightly woven and intricate to solve beneath the surface.
While we understand this must be frustrating to hear, we’re currently focused on making improvements in other areas of Xero and are unable to prioritise a bulk download or print feature right now.
However, in situations like these there are often connected apps through the Xero App Store that may be able to assist. We appreciate and will revise solutions that could fulfil needs in this space, but want to be honest this isn’t something we have plans for…An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Kevin Smith commentedIn response to Kat, I doubt he reads the emails to ceo@xero.com but just in case he does I sent the following message:
"Good afternoon Sukhinder
Welcome to the role of CEO. I hope you enjoy the challenge and take Xero to new heights.
I'd like to bring something to your attention which appears to be an intentional design fault of Xero: Bulk File exports/downloads. Xero offers a very helpful feature where we can easily capture receipts and supporting data in Xero which is much appreciated. Unfortunately the same isn't true of our ability to extract this data which we are required to do for a number of reasons.
This makes it hard for us to recommend Xero to new clients. This relatively minor annoyance, and more importantly the lack of a solution, speaks volumes of the intention and culture which concerns myself and many other Xero users.
There is a thread pleading for this change since 2013 already: https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/44960626-files-bulk-export-print-attached-files
I hope you engage with the Xero community and make this change as soon as possible."
It can't hurt for similar messages to be sent in since all the Xero staff I've tried to talk to have ignored this issue.

I've brought this up with Xero staff and their response wasn't encouraging. They said it wasn't their department and the developers will look into it if there's sufficient interest. I have the following observations after my discussions:
1) Xero have moved from the disrupter to the aggregator and are consuming the market with indifference.
2) I used to be in contact with developers in the past (would write my own code when Xero was first starting) but they are being kept away from the public now. Hopefully they are being treated well in captivity ;)
3) Xero have no plans to implement any changes to this process as it holds us captive to their system.
4) The front end staff we see as practice owners aren't as aware of the Xero product as they used to be. Back in the day the staff I'd chat to had a broad knowledge of the business as they had to cover multiple rolls.I understand the position Xero is in now as the business is much larger than it used to be. Systems will grow and adapt but I can't shake off the feeling that their design choice to lock the uploads away (not having bulk downloads is a lock) is intentional and in bad faith to their clients/customers to create additional/consistent revenue streams to increase their business value (especially prevalent in tech industries who work on multiples of subscription fees).

Hi user AA.
Thanks for creating the app to download the documents. I think you're on to a winner and once polished up, if there's enough interest, there's value in charging a small fee.
As a PSA to the community I'm reluctant to use this service however as it requires me to enter my Xero login details. I'm sure sure there's no malicious intent with what you've created but bad faith actors can do the same and take credential details and or do man-in-the-middle attacks to access documents.
Have a think on ways to put safeguards or security in place to make your solution a real winner :)
Cheers
