Appreciate the interest in being able to search by description. While we're attentive to your feedback, I want to be open that we don't have any immediate plans for developing this atm.

We're staying close to feedback on how we can improve navigation for our customers when using Xero, and I'll let you know if there is any development planned surrounding this, here. Thanks

The CTO commented on this a while back about how technically challenging it is. So I respect it not being implemented right away. However that was sooo long ago.

This was started over five years ago and the comments only go back to May 2022. I can understand that there are business reasons for not implementing this. But shame on Xero for apparently deleting or not showing older comments!

I am considering adding line item details to my bills. But without an integrated search feature over the description field, I will not be able to easily utilize the additional information when searching for particular bills containing desired line items. This is disappointing since this has been requested more than five years ago.

The CTO commented a while back that this was too difficult to implement. My suggestion is to not be concerned with returning 100% of the results (especially if they are recently entered line items). Even updating the index offline after a few days/weeks would be a great improvement, and would work JUST FINE for users that only want to search older bills. Especially since newer bills are easier to remember and likely can be reviewed quickly.
