I also agree with having this functionality. We have a need to order pay items specifically within the pay template to allow software partners such as Deputy to correctly integrate timesheets with Xero.
Currently there is a misconception that Xero will order pay items within a template in numerical or alphabetic order, but this is only true if all pay items rate types are set to the same option eg, all rate per unit. As soon as pay item rate types are mixed, the pay items have their own hierarchy that overrides the alphanumeric order.
