Hi community, we wanted to provide an update as we've been working on development for accepting deposit payments(another highly voted idea).
This week we began rolling out a solution for deposits powered by Stripe to a limited group of users. We know this functionality will also bridge the gap for customers in this idea, and have included anyone that's voted here and is connected to Stripe in this early rollout. We'd love to hear your feedback - You'll receive a banner in your organisation on how to use this feature.
I'll be back again with more news as the rollout progresses. 😊

Thanks for all your feedback around being able to issue progress payments on sales invoices.
Right now as noted by others in the idea, one option for processing progress payments in Xero could be to use a draft invoice to keep track of the total amount, and using Copy to create new invoices for each progress payment, linking them back to the original project or quote in the description. It’s not a perfect solution, but may help manage the process.
We've been listening to your feedback and know there are multiple ways businesses operate - and we're exploring solutions for these workflows such as progress payments, and additionally, the ability to accept a deposit from a single invoice.
While we're unable to provide timeframes around this just yet, please know that this is a priority to us and we'll keep you updated on the progress through this idea.

Is there a way to add another description line after a part payment has been made? Sometimes customers want additional things after they have paid their initial deposit.
The only way we can fix it is by reversing the payment first.

Yes, once the quote is accepted, we copy the invoice and split the amount into 2 by changing the quantity to 0.5. We add 50% Deposit, and Balance in the reference so we can decifer. Would be so much easier to have it all in one though!
