  1. Please leave the history of an invoice EXACTLY as it was in the classic invoicing.

    The new invoicing doesn't show the invoice that it was copied from or copied to and this is very important as a trail.

    I really don't understand why so many important features from the classic invoicing has been omitted.

    Hi community, we've released our first update to history and notes of new invoicing, where you can now view more detail of changes such as where an issue or due date has been altered or the amount of your invoice is changed. There's more improvements for this space coming soon and I'll keep you up to date with these, here. 

  2. open attached files (especially PDFs) in the current window (same as old invoicing), not in a new tab which is automatically happening with new invoicing.
    is frustrating as you now need to go back and forth between tabs if you want to transpose info from the attachment into the invoice.
    Much more user friendly the old way with a resize-able/move-able viewing window within the same tab

    Hi everyone, appreciate wanting more of an update from us here. To share on our progress - Multiple addresses has been enabled in the back end of contacts. As mentioned in our previous update this is a complex piece of work, as we need to now build this into other areas of Xero where it'll add value.

    For this reason the work within Contacts is not live yet, as without building this feature across these other areas it wouldn't have much practical use. But to confirm, work's moving along and we look forward to being able to share more.

  4. We have many suppliers that reject invoices if we send them direct from Xero. Hence we have to download a PDF copy and email it manually from our finance inbox. This process now takes 5 clicks as opposed to one click in classic invoicing. The new process is to click "Approve & Email", but then to exit this screen. Then move across the screen to the left top corner and check the box to mark it as "sent", then move all the way back to the right and click "Print PDF" and then wait for it to open in a…

    Thanks for feeding back and sharing your views on new invoicing with us here, everyone. There's a lot of work our team are doing at present to improve the new invoicing experience for our customers. 

    Being able to mark an invoice as sent when you print in new invoicing is something they're working on atm and we'll move this idea to 'working on it'. I'll swing back to confirm once this is available for you to start using 🙂

    Hi everyone

    We wanted to provide you an update on our progress for this idea as it’s very much something we want to make easier for you all. The feedback you’ve provided so far has been helpful. One of the big problems our Product team identified in this thread and in other customer research is how hard it is for customers to navigate their statement lines to gain a holistic view of the work they need to do and complete their work flows efficiently.

    I’m pleased to share that they’re in the early stages of developing a solution that will help to improve this experience by combining a search tool with an increased number of statement lines being returned to the page.

  6. Payroll>Employees>Leave currently has leave balances in days and dollar values, this makes it difficult to determine what the amount should be either way.
    As the dollar amount may change due to pay rises or an average applied as per statutory legislation, it would be better if all fields were hours based values. This would make it consistent and easier as a consumer to use.
    As a user, I should not have to be trying to calculate what the values should be and if something doesn't appear to be right, I should not need to contact Xero to find out how…

    Hi everyone, we've added you to this idea that we split away from the original one you voted for (AU & UK Payroll - Show leave balances on payslip in days and hours) as we have an exciting update applicable to NZ Payroll only.

    Our product team has started some work around enabling Xero customers the ability to show Annual Leave in Weeks and FBAPS in Days👩‍💻. While in early stages at present we'll keep you updated on progress for this here!

    To follow on from Kelly’s last update, the Product team have made a lot of headway in the 'building on beautiful' work which has prepared the platform to more easily build features solving customer problems, like the ones identified in this thread.

    Hi team, further on from our last update we are extending the ability to automatically record Xero subscription invoices in your organisation to UK customers via einvoicing.
    As a first cut if you have registered for einvoicing, you'll be able to edit your billing contact to select to 'Receive Xero subscription bills as einvoices where you'll need to enter your businesses VAT. Over the following months we'll be building on the experience so you can eventually choose this option from the online invoice itself. We'll keep you updated of progress for this, here.

  11. With the new basis period changes coming into effect, some clients may want to change their year-end from 30.09 to 31.03. Currently changing the year-end in Xero will cause previous opening balances to change and most likely mean any working papers produced in Xero will no longer match the accounts.

    It would be a useful tool to have something whereby a previous accounting period end could be locked so a new year-end could be chosen without messing up the old year-end balances.

    Hi everyone, as mentioned earlier our team have been making change across Xero to align with the UK basis period reforms. We recently made a change to Financial settings so you can add start and end dates to different periods. This change impacts multiple areas of Xero. As a reminder from our last post -

    Fixed assets will draw on this information, to prevent any loss of historic information when your year end changes. Everything will automatically be calculated for you based on the period start and end dates you set in Financial Settings.

    The same story will apply in Reporting. All historic reports will be protected. And you’ll have accurate comparison periods even across varied financial years.

    In Xero Tax, you’ll be able to enter transitional profit, and track this across five years.

  12. Can the new invoicing template show the address like the old templates used? Now if you go into edit the addresses have disappeared and to check if it is correct you have to click on the contact and fix it in a new tab.
    Also the notes section has removed the time stamps and the email address the invoices get sent to. Can the new invoicing have the same notes and history function as the old one.

    Hey community, just a quick update to let you know the team are currently working on the ability to show the email address that an invoice was sent to, in the History & Notes! We'll pop back to confirm it's been delivered in the next few months 😊

    As Kelly mentioned in our last update, viewing the timestamp of history items on an invoice is a separate idea started across here. And, it looks like a separate idea has been raised for the last part of this original idea New invoicing | View contact address. Feel free to add your vote to those ✅ if they're changes you'd like to see.

  13. In the classic invoicing history, we can see the date and timestamp, this is not available in the new invoicing - see attached screenshots.

    We use this time stamp a lot for trouble shooting - like what time or XPM and what time was the invoice approved. This helps if there is an integration problem or double up, or payment query.

Our product team recently released an update so you can view more detail in history such as where an issue or due date has changed or total amounts of the invoice have changed and who these were made by. We have more improvements coming for history and notes in new invoicing and will share more as it's made available, here.

  14. There is an issue with the new contact edit settings, we cannot add IBAN in account number and swift in routing numberFinancial details. Since we have vendors globally, not everyone have US routing and acct number only. This needs to be fixed since we are relying on the bank details updated in contact

    Thanks everyone, we thoroughly appreciate your feedback on changes when adding or editing a contact. 


    Since the initial release, our team have made an update and you'll find you can now enter IBAN and SWIFT into account number without it throwing errors. 


    Currently, if you save information into the account number field it'll spread across the bank account prefix and bank account number fields - The thing to note is that this will not impact processing of batch payments and will be one field when exported for batch payments.


    We understand it’s not the perfect solution and are looking at further enhancing this - I'll keep you updated here. 

  15. There is an issue with the new GUI for invoices in xero. My work flow requires making multiplke repeating invoices from a standard invoice. At present this can be done by creating a draft, and then converting the draft invoice to a repeating invoice. The draft stays put in the drafts folder and can be converted into a new repeating invoice. Once I have set up all the repeating invoices I require, I can delete the draft.
    The option to create repeating invoices from drafts in the new GUI has been removed. Where is it?

    Hi team, thank you for sharing and the detail in your process here. We see how the flow of being able to create a repeat invoice from a draft invoice is useful and we're in the process of developing this within new invoicing.

With the currect feature History and note report we are able to see which invoice for example has been edited - change name of invoice - reconciled etc. However we would like to have a more detailed view, for example if an invoice is booked in USD and someone will change the currency in EUR we are not able to see this change , we can see only that the invoice is edited by X person but we are not able to see the change. How can we have this feature?

  18. There needs to be the ability to undo/unlock a submitted ATO Activity Statement when lodgement has failed with the ATO and it has been rejected. When submitting an Activity Statement with a variation, they are often rejected by the ATO as the ATO recaclulates its own amounts and the submitted AS is rejected. This results in an AS that is listed as "Failed" un the Needs attention section of the Activity Statement page. There is currently no way for an end user to undo the failed AS to correct any issues for resubmission.

    Hi everyone, as Hannah shared in our last update our team have been working on the ability for you to revert a failed business activity statement back to draft. Today this feature has gone live and is currently being rolled out to all users. If your statement has failed to lodge with the ATO, you'll find an option to "Revert to draft" in the 3 dot menu icon next to the failed statement. When selected, the statement will be reverted to Draft status allowing you to correct it and re-lodge to the ATO.

    If you don't quite have it just yet, it'll be with you very soon. I'll come back to confirm once it's available to all 😊

    Hey community, just a quick update to let you know the team are currently working on this! We’ll pop back to confirm it’s been delivered in the new year 🌟 

    In the meantime three different payment services can be added to an invoice template. These fall under the category credit/debit card, Paypal and bank payments. So you could add Stripe, Paypal and GoCardless to an invoice template branding theme but wouldn’t be able to add both Stripe and Square as these are both debit/credit card options.
    Alternatively multiple invoice templates can be created with different payment services, this would help in some of the scenarios mentioned by a few users in the comments.

  20. It would be great if Xero dealt with changing balance dates more efficiently. If the balance date changes it should be able to automatically calculate the opening book value, then calculate the depreciation for the new financial year end as per usual. Currently its very manual and time consuming as it reverses all journals posted since you started using Xeros fixed asset feature. Very odd and very frustrating!

    Hi everyone, as mentioned earlier our team have been making change across Xero to enable user to change their year end in their Xero organisation. We recently made a change to Financial settings so you can add start and end dates to different periods. Currently this is only available to users with the UK version of Xero however we are looking at rolling this out across all versions over the coming months.

    It's also worth noting that atm it's only possible to set a longer transitional period (12+ months). Our team are working on shorter periods (<12 months) which we'll be providing in the near future.
