  1. New invoicing has introduced more clicks, taps, steps at almost every level.
    Please remove the added friction as it increases processing time.

    The "new invoicing" messages are full of comments regarding where these pressure points have been added.
    We are paid subscribers, and beta testing/seeking feedback is wonderful, but being forced onto an inferior model is.. suboptimal.

    Hi everyone, some time on since my last update I wanted to give you more of an idea of the work we have going on to help reduce the number of steps and actions in new invoicing. Along with the changes mentioned in my last update, we've since released a change to the view of an invoice to shift details back into their own columns (similar to classic), while a small change we know it's improved visibility for some of our customers.

    We also have other work in development atm that’ll further help here like a new line item grid when editing your invoice - wrapped up in this we’ll be introducing changes you’ve been asking for like the ability to create a new tracking option or account code without having to navigate away from the invoice, we’re increasing the number of items that you can view from the drop…

  2. Please leave the history of an invoice EXACTLY as it was in the classic invoicing.

    The new invoicing doesn't show the invoice that it was copied from or copied to and this is very important as a trail.

    I really don't understand why so many important features from the classic invoicing has been omitted.

    let your customers continue using the classic invoicing as they like

    Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to. 

    We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing. 

    We still have more enhancements on the way for history and I'll be back again when more updates land. 

  3. Have less white space on new invoicing as it fills screen. The notes section which is in contacts 4000 chars make visable and editable on the new invoice page so we can see it whilst creating and invoice. We dont then have to keep jumping from one page to the next.

    Thanks to everyone that participated in and shared back on the team’s research in the new invoicing layout. Taking your feedback on board our teams have made some improvements to the layout of new invoicing, including changes to the layout of fields and buttons.
    By rearranging and condensing space between fields, you’ll find there is less white space than previously shown, making it easier to navigate and tab through fields when entering your invoices.

    We’re actively looking into changes within the invoicing grid that’ll go further to condensing information on the screen and reducing actions when entering your invoices. We’ll update as there is more information to share on this.

    Hi everyone, to keep you updated on this idea work in this space will provide the ability to add a new blank row to your invoice one at a time. Once added you'll also have the ability to drag and drop the row to where you'd like it placed in your invoice, which we know some customers use to help format their invoices and space lines out.  

    I appreciate that some customers have mentioned wanting to add multiple blank rows at once, and want to be open that this isn't planned with this release.

    Being under development atm, we plan to have this to you all before classic invoicing is retired and I'll be back as soon as it's out to let you know, here.

  5. On the old invoices/bills I could type "18/2/23" and it would auto fill 18th February 2023. Now I have to scroll back multiple months to get there. It would be good if I could type in the date field boxes again. Specifically on "Add Payment"

    Hi team, as you may have noticed we've made a change to the Invoice Date and Due Date fields that now allows you to type in these fields rather than having to select a date from the calendar drop down. It does still require entering delimiters between day month and year such as a '.' or '/' (we understand there are a few situations when entering US date formats and are continuing to look into this).

    We're working on also adding this functionality to the Payment date, and I'll keep you in the know of when this is made available, here.

  6. The ability to add a tracking code from within the 'new invoicing' bills.
    Classic invoicing has this ability and it would be excellent to have it in the new invoicing also.

    We will keep you updated on change for being able to add new tracking options when using new invoicing here, however if there are other items that you'd like to see developed please do make sure you've joined and are following updates for these too.

    I can confirm our team have work underway to improve the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoice. Part of this work includes the ability to add new tracking options without navigating away from the invoice.

    For now we'll move this idea to working on it and I'll be back to share when there's more news of this going live for you all.

  7. On the new invoicing, when additional columns are selected, a scrollbar is added to the invoice layout and interrupts the smooth capture process. Having to manually scroll from one side to the other to view details is not ideal.

    Consider either auto-adjusting the column widths or allow for the automatic expansion of the invoice layout width when additional columns are selected. This way, users could view all necessary details without the need for manual scrolling.

    Hi all, we thank you for all sharing detail on your experience when using new invoicing in Xero. Taking this on board our team have been reviewing the line item grid where you enter details in new invoicing. We have work underway to improve and address points raised such as providing a more compact layout so you can see more at once, showing full account and tracking names, and more direct options to reduce clicks and steps in common actions.

    For the time being, small adjustments can be made to your computer scale or browser zooming to see more detail at once, although we understand this is not the ideal solution.

    I'll return to let you know when we're closer to release and can share more of the changes.

  8. In new invoicing, please revert the ability to edit the postal address 'attention' box, back to the same as classic invoicing. Property managers want the owner's name included in the invoice address, so for each invoice I produce, I need to change the person's name in the 'attention' box. Previously this could be done by clicking on 'edit address' within the invoice, but in new invoicing, I need to edit the address by going into 'contacts', 'edit ', 'addresses', 'edit address', 'update address', 'save'.     Hi everyone, we value your input on the new invoicing experience and hearing the specific features that are of importance to you.

    We have some updates planned for the contact card where you can enter details of your contact within new invoicing, and as part of this we'll be providing the ability to edit the Attention to field.

    We'll keep you up to date with progress of this through the idea here.

  9. New Invoicing: Auto adjust the account column width (or wrap text) so that the full account name can be seen when creating an invoice in New Invoicing. Currently users have to click on the account within each line to see the full account name. In Classic invoicing the account box automatically adjusts so that the full account name can be seen.

  10. It would be great to be able to group certain lines of an invoice together (for example by adding some spacing between groups), to make long invoices more readable and logically coherent.

    It used to be possible to add spacing on the Classic invoicing page by pressing Enter a few times on the description field, but this no longer works on the New invoicing.

    Hi team, thank you for all your feedback. We're in the process of developing the edit view of the line item grid within new invoicing and will be incorporating the ability to manually add a row and the ability to move blank rows within the invoice. Once released blank lines will be able to be saved within the invoice so you can separate lines or groups of lines as you need. I'll keep you updated on when this goes live.

    Thanks for letting us know how useful this feature is to you when creating invoices for your customers in Xero. We have some improvements the team are focusing on within the contact card to provide our customers more efficiency, which includes the ability to search to add an address for a Contact.

    For the time being we'll change this to working on it, and I'll keep you up to date with any progress for this, here.

  12. It is most annoying and time consuming to only be able to access half of the inventory items when raising an invoice. Instead one has to look up every item in the second half of the inventory, line by line before you can add it to an invoice. This is a step into the dark ages.

    Hi team, thanks for sharing and showing your interest on the idea, here. Atm our product team are doing some work to improve the line item grid and as part of this the item field will also see some improvement. Once the changes are released for the edit page you'll be able to view more items for each drop down option in the grid.

  13. Currently trying to use the new invoicing, but I'll start typing a contact name then tab across before seeing the contact pop up, since I use this contact daily. Under the old invoicing, it would just find the contact once I hit tab. Under the new invoicing, a new contact is created. And since the invoice is saved immediately, this new contact is also saved, so once I finish with the invoice, I then need to go and archive the contact that was created.
    Can we change the defaults or something to fix this?

    Hi community, appreciate your feedback. Currently our team are working on some improvements to the To field in new invoicing and the contacts card that appears when selecting a contact. We understand some of our customers make use of the keyboard much more than the mouse and in reviewing the flow when using Tab the team will be making a change to make selection of a contact and movement to the date field smoother. I'll come back to confirm the detail of the change when this is released.

  14. URGENT!!!! The new invoicing is quiet frustrating. It doesn't remember past settings when emailing the invoices. So now I need to remember EVERYTIME I send an invoice to click 'send me a copy', which I know I'm going to forget especially if I'm in a rush.

    ANNOYING!!!! There's an added step now to attach a pdf. I now need to click add files then drag the pdf, instead of simply dragging it and clicking to send with invoice or not.

    It would be good if the Save & Close button had and 'Email for Approval'. I email invoices (unapproved). Once…

    Thanks for continuing to share back through this idea. Right now, as you may have seen in updates to some other ideas - our team are developing the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoices. This will encompass reduced padding and smaller pixels to condense details and help you see more information in one page without as much need to scroll which will help with the feedback you've shared here.

    Thanks for your interest in this idea, everyone. We understand there are different ways our customers find useful when entering dates for invoices in Xero.

    Based on feedback our team are looking at improvements to the date pickers in new invoicing. While I can't confirm exactly what these will entail atm, we'll shift the idea to working on it and I'll be back to confirm when we have more of the detail.

    Hi community, we understand your needs in this feature and want to assure you were taking on board all your feedback. 

    As many of you accustom to this idea will know, multiple addresses requires a complex solution. It's been something we’ve been moving towards for some time and we’ve done a lot of back end work that will allow us to bring it to you in the future. 

    We have 12 different products within Xero that rely on contact data, as well as many of our app partners. This means that contacts need to seamlessly flow across technology, products and all connections on Xero. And that’s exactly what we’ve been working on. 

    One of the reasons we announced the retirement of classic invoicing is because many of the features being asked for, just can’t be brought into classic invoicing. The old technology has too many technology limitations to enable this.…

  17. Reduce the lag in items column when searching, it takes too long to search, sometimes up to 4secs! Please also change the location of the pop up message "default contacts have been applied", as when I start a new invoice the pop up message appears in the bottom left, but I'm trying to look at my contact info and enter items. The pop up box lingers too long and covers the information I need to read! This is frustrating every time when creating multiple invoices and I have to "x" the pop up message away each time, which then causes…

    Appreciate your feedback here, we're currently working on some updates to the line item grid where you enter the detail of your invoices and the 'Item' field is located. Part of the work the team are doing in this space should also address issues you've noted in the loading of items when you're invoicing.

  18. Despite some condensing of information and improvements to the appearance of new invoicing, it continues to display information with less clarity and efficiency than before. This is only one example but on classic invoicing, entering a tracking category that was too large for the field would cause the vertical height of that row to increase. Now new invoicing simply cuts off the field after a certain character limit.

    This system is not ready for default deployment and you have no idea how bad the support storm is going to be on the 2nd of September. Please push back the default…

    Appreciate the screenshots and detail in your idea. While we've released an updated line item grid when viewing a saved/approved invoice in new invoicing, this is still being worked on for the edit page. We know being able to see the full Tracking option and Account name is important to our customers and this is something that we're working on and will be coming soon. I'll keep you in the loop of when this goes live.

    Hi everyone, we really appreciate those that have been testing and sharing back on their experience with our beta for sending invoices via SMS. We've had great results and are moving forward to release this to all users in Australia to begin.

    As we roll this out this'll mean those that have been trialing this for us will lose access for a short period of time, but I'll round back to confirm once it's been released to everyone in AU 😊Thanks!

  20. I think the time has come to invest in AI, as a accounting software leader (Xero). Many people invest their money in AI software, like accountants, to do better / more accurate and faster budgets, forecasting (cash/accrual) mixed with different scenario's, transaction reconciliations and presentations of data/information and graphs. This usually in excel; outside the accounting software, where mistakes are likely to happen. I am not in IT, or software development/integrations, so I do not have an idea what this type of investment would cost, but my gut feeling is it would be worth it.

    As Freya mentioned there is some AI going on in Xero already with the way Xero makes suggestions to help you reconcile your bank account.
