    There is a workaround:

TRY THIS FIRST IN "Demo Company" BEFORE DOING IT IN YOUR PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT.

Step 1: Create the CSV that you want to upload for a single group. Save it as something like "Final".

Step 2: Open the "Final" CSV again and re-save it as "Initial Upload". Then add a new temp column called Group. Populate all rows with the unique group name. Then add a another column called Concat, in that column, use the concatenate function to join together first name and group name. Then replace the first name column with the data from the Concat column, paste values only. Your first name column should now look something like this: "GroupName James". Delete the two columns that you created. Then you upload that CSV.

Step 3: Go into "All Contacts" and use the search function to look for the unique group name that you have used in the upload.

Step 4: Select all the contacts using the select all checkbox, then select "Add to Group".

Step 5: Now that all the contacts are in a group, re-upload the Final CSV that you created earlier. This is the one that just has the first name without the group name.

You should now have all the contacts with their correct names assigned to the group that you wanted.
