Thanks for continuing to follow along and join in the support of this idea, community. To reiterate on our last update we appreciate and understand the need in being able to easily view an employees' leave balances when reviewing leave.
As already spotted from comments here, I'd like to share an update with the release of projected leave balances in Xero Payroll Australia. This feature has just been rolled out to Payroll admins, where you'll be able to view an employees estimated leave balance when adding, editing or approving leave. You'll be able to view a calculation breakdown and will see a warning when a leave request may result in a negative balance. Helping you to better assess and manage leave for your organisation. 😁

Agree! When raising a leave application it would be useful to have a notification advising that leave balance will go into negative / is in negative, or at very least balance of leave shown on application is in red text to make it more visible.

Thanks for your patience, it’s been a little while since you raised this idea, so we wanted to check in. Looks like this idea has been gaining support from our product idea community! Whilst there's no committed road map for this idea, our product team are focused on payrol. They're keeping an eye on this idea and we will continue to share updates as things evolve.

This feature should not just be about flagging a negative balance, but it would be a step in right direction!
My experience with other payroll programs is that it will forecast what leave you are entitlement to, based on the projected date you are applying for the leave. This would also take into account any leave already applied for and approved.
At no time should a payroll officer be forced to sit and calculate what entitlement an employee would have when they submit a leave application.
