  1. Xero has discontinued to display tracking category in the employee list - This means I now need to run a report to receive this information which will make processing pays longer so it's no longer a smooth process. I would like to see a return for this feature. Thank you.

  2. I like to be able to change a payrate in advance but still be able to use the old payrate in the current pay runs. Then adding a new line for ordinary hours with the new pay rate if it starts in the middle of a pay week. This way you don't have to go into each employee to change the rate if you have a pay week where it is the old payrate for eg 2 days and the new one for 3 days. When employees are using xero me app to book leave and the amount of leave they are requesting will cause their leave balance to go to a negative, either the app needs to not allow them to submit the leave as they are in negative already or will go negative or an alert to say that they are/will be in negative that they then need to acknowledge to submit the leave.

  4. Require an SGC statement report ( a combination of Employee remuneration + payroll activity summary report) that includes all details required about the employee and super accrued on OTE + Overtime hours worked. This would enable efficient reporting to the ATO when super payments are late.

  5. Can we have an audit trail on Timesheets, please? If there is a dispute around timesheet entries, changes, submissions, retractions, re-submissions, approvals etc. it would be invaluable to have an audit trail for the employee. the approver and business owner to refer to. I was surprised this didn't exist as both Xero AI and ChatGPT explained how to find it! Sadly Xero Support confirmed this audit trail does not exist.

    Hi there, as part of our ongoing review process, we’re in the process of updating our idea statuses to better track Xero Product Ideas.

    We’ve taken another look at this idea. Whilst we can see the value for payroll administrators to be able to view the payslip in PDF from within the Employee’s record, this update doesn’t currently fit into our product team’s road map. We’ll move this idea to a status of Accepted and will continue to review this in future planning.

  8. Employment Information > Contract Details. I inadvertently ticked the wrong box for one of our Directors and it won't let me amend. You can amend pretty much most things in Xero but not this, and while it doesn't have any impact on the Director's status or pay, it is annoying that I can't amend or delete. It would be good to have this function in place. Or, just don't have it in place for Directors.

The Contract information is a new addition to the client information section and its great to get feedback on how this is working for our customers.   9. The maximum of 250 historic payslips needs to be removed, or an option to turn it on or off in settings.

    In legal forensic review work this is imperative.

    While you can create a transaction report beyond 250 payslips, this does not provide the ability to identify the actual incorrect inputs by someone historically beyond the 250 limit.

    There must be a simple setting in the background you can change or update, as when you add a new payslip, the earliest, previous payslip just drops off.

    DO it NOW please.

  10. Ability to draft future payruns - ie more than 1 darft payrun. Especially at Christmas time. I would like to draft up future payruns before Igo on leave, but still have the ability to adjust this week payrun for overtime etc. At the moment I can't move forward until I complete current payrun. or i have to do un unscheduled payrun to fix it. Very time consuming

    Hi team, we want to be upfront that we don't have immediate plans for enabling the ability to create multiple draft pay runs in NZ Payroll.

    If this is something you'd like to see developed for NZ Payroll please add your vote here and we will continue to get a sense of the overall interest from community, and can share if there are any plans made.

  11. Suggest the ability to apply work patterns to part time employees. For example, we have a part time employee who works 7 hours on Mon, 6 hours on Tues and 6 hours on Wed.
    At the moment, if a Public Holiday falls on a Monday, it does not correctly work out hours worked.
    The same happens if Annual Leave is taken; incorrect hours are calculated which affects AL accruals.
    Hours worked have to be calculated and added manually.

    Hey everyone 👋 Thanks so much for all the detailed feedback on applying work patterns for part-time employees. We’ve been following the conversation and understand that manually adjusting pay runs for pro-rata entitlements can be a real challenge. It’s clear that having this automated could save time and give you greater peace of mind.

    I’m pleased to let you know our product team has reviewed this idea and we’re updating the status to ‘Accepted’. This means that while it’s not on our immediate roadmap, it’s something we see real value in and want to bring into Xero when we can prioritise the work.

    In the meantime, the workarounds shared here, like manually adjusting hours in each pay run, remain the best approach. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, as your feedback plays a crucial role in shaping Xero. We’ll keep you updated on any developments…

  12. Pay rates rounding by 4 decimal points causing an underpayment of wages. EG: Base rate is 25.65 x 1.5 = 38.475000 but the award rate is actually 38.48. Need a solution for this ASAP. Also change decimal place settings for pay slip and pay template items such as superannuation.

    We can see you raised this a little while ago, thank you for your patience whilst it was being reviewed. We can see this idea has been steadily gaining support so have now updated the status accordingly. Whilst this is not currently on our product team's roadmap, they are keeping an eye on this idea and we will continue to share updates as things evolve.

    Hi everyone, thank you for your continued feedback. We appreciate you sharing how important selecting multiple employees is for you when running payroll reports.

    The good news is our product team has reviewed this idea and agrees it is a valuable addition to Xero. We have updated the status to Accepted.

    This feature is not currently on our immediate development roadmap, however by accepting it we are formally adding it to our backlog for consideration.

    We will keep tracking interest here and update you as soon as we have news.

  14. Timesheet approval process

    1. Give payroll admins the ability to move the status from "draft" to "pending approval" as is possible in NZ and UK or
    2. Give permissions to users with approval power to see the timesheet in the "draft" status through "Xero me" or
    3. Permit users with approval power to see the "timesheet" module in addition to "Xero me"

    Thank you for your engagement and sharing through product ideas, everyone. While we appreciate wanting more flexibility and detail in payroll reports, with payroll development quite separated for each region, and to help our product teams best understand the data that would be most useful for our customers we're going to close this idea and recommend starting ideas for the specific fields that would be helpful in reports and why you'd find this useful.

    Hi Joanne, thanks so much for all your feedback and comments on this idea. We totally get how handy it’d be to have a report in Xero UK Payroll that includes employee bank details.

    Not having something like this can definitely add extra work and hassle—especially when you need to send bank info to a third party or double-check payments.

    Right now, the idea’s in the ‘Gaining support’ stage, which means we’re keeping a close eye on how many people are voting and sharing their thoughts. The more input we get, the easier it is for us to understand how important this is and where it might sit in our list of priorities.

  17. It would be great if Xero Payroll could produce a Monthly P30 report which we can send to our clients with HMRC bank details and the Accounts reference, with the month reference on the end.
    Other payroll software do this and it is really helpful for our clients.

  18. When approving timesheets it would be ideal to have separate lines underneath Ordinary Hours with Leave requested, on which days and hour amounts and to be able to approve there instead of having to go to a different screen.

  19. When running reports to review Staff costs & looking into account transactions, Payroll journals provide descriptions that don't give correct/clear context. For example, under Employers Pension Contributions, the description provided is "Benefits" rather than Employers Pension Contributions. Or under Employment Costs it just says Earnings rather than "Gross Earnings". A final example was when an employee took unpaid leave, however the only description provided was "Deductions". This does not reflect clear context. It would be helpful if Xero had the means to be able to customise these descriptions or maybe have the option to ask Payroll/Reports to mirror the descriptions…

    Hi Sophie ✨, thanks for your feedback on this idea. We're well aware how the generic descriptions in pay run journals can be confusing when they don't align with your specific payroll settings. We understand that you've been using workarounds like exporting reports to Excel and manually editing them to get the detail you need. While this can help in the short term, we recognize it is a time-consuming process that shouldn't be necessary.We've shared your valuable feedback with our product team. As with all new features, we have to balance this against other development priorities. We can't promise a specific timeline, but the more support an idea gets, the higher it climbs on our list.   20. It would be good to make it possible to either set a maximum leave accrual, or set an expiry date for leave. An example where it could be used would be study leave. We have an agreement with employees that gives them 7 days of study leave per year. Any unused study leave is forfeited after two years. Currently we have to manually monitor and adjust the leave.
