Hi team, I'm pleased to share an update with everyone here. As you may have noticed we've been rolling out a new branding experience with our new invoice editor.

This replaces the older Standard branding templates with the ability to quickly and easily modify the content and layout of your invoices. along with a preview so you can see what changes will look like to your customers. 🥳

It's in the process of being released to all users and I'll round back to confirm when available to all!

I just updated to the new invoice templates and not happy for two reasons:

    1. There is no noticeable improvement in the output, which is the thing that matters. I am based in the UK and have US customers for which none of my services attract UK VAT. I can't remove the VAT summary box from the invoice. This is mystifying to my US customers and looks unprofessional.

    2. You are now adding a giant USD before the invoice amount. Also mystifying and looks unprofessional.

Please don't reply with the compliance reasons these things are there. I already know about compliance. I am responsible for compliance, not Xero. If your lawyers tell you to put this in to protect Xero, then please add a toggle for your customers to turn these things off (show a warning about UK law before toggling, if you like - if the lawyers don't like it, ask the sales team to explain why companies pay for lawyers, which is not to drive customers away).

If you are going to force this ham-fisted ugliness on people who use your standard templates, please make is simple for us to design and upload our own Word templates without needing a programmer.

Hi everyone, thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback and support this idea. We’ve taken another look here and, while we don’t have plans to develop DOCX further, we have released and are continuing to roll out our invoice editor. It’s replacing the Standard branding theme first, and from there will continue to evolve with more of the invoice customisation we know customers are looking for across things like logos, fonts and colours.

We know this won’t be the update some of you were hoping for, especially for those wanting more flexibility in how invoices look and feel. To help keep updates relevant to the specific changes being asked for, we’d really encourage you to add your vote to the ideas below, as they’re more closely related to those points:

Hi team, we appreciate the on-going support and feedback we're receiving on this idea and pleased to be able to share this update. Our product team are actively exploring how we can best solve for the needs raised here, although at this time are unable to provide any set timeframes.

They are very much aware of the appetite from our community on this, and as part of their exploration have reached out some users here as they gather insights.

For the time being we'll shift to In discovery and I'll return as soon as there is more on this to share.

This is absolutely needed for all the reasons mentioned below. My invoices go to spam. This appeared again in a chasing call yesterday, in which I learned that the client never saw the invoice even though it was expected. I had an email this morning from another client asking why I hadn't sent the quote yet. Please add to your Purpose statement the very important issue of spam and fraud by bad actors.
