E-invoicing - United Arab Emirates
E-Invoicing in the UAE.
This will soon be a requirement in the UAE with legislation to be passed on this.
Please can we as Xero users have a standard process template for this.65 votesHi everyone, thank you for supporting and sharing of your e-invoicing needs with us through Xero Product Ideas.
We appreciate those that have linked to our web page - I'd also like to confirm here that e-invoicing and VAT support for United Arab Emirates is currently in development working toward the ASP requirements.
We will keep you looped in on updates for this here, however want to confirm that we intend to have a solution available in the next few months.
I'll share as there are more details around the progress and how e-invoicing will work for your business with Xero.

Bills - Allow users to disable the new Bills split-screen layout
I have been a Xero customer for over 10 years and have referred dozens of businesses to the platform during that time. The primary reason we originally switched to Xero was its simplicity and clean interface. Unfortunately, the recent changes to the Bills section have completely undermined that simplicity.
The new split-screen layout with the bill list on the left side of the screen is unnecessary and extremely distracting. When I open a bill, I need to focus on that bill only. There is no logical reason to display a list of other bills while I am working inside a…
7 votesHi team, there are two parts to unpack here:
- the new bills split screen, and
- the bill payments flow.
We’ve introduced a new bills quick view that lets users easily enter, scan, review, and take action on bills without leaving the list view. For some users, this completely replaces the older bills UI. The product team is monitoring this closely and may make quick view optional, so users can choose between quick view and opening the full bill. I’ll keep you updated here.
We’re continuing to support online bill payments and are encouraging setup because it can improve efficiency and simplify payments. There are no plans to remove online bills from the payments flow.
For users who prefer manual payments, they can still use the Record a payment tab or select a bill in the list and click Make payment above the list.

AI everywhere - Use AI to add details on bills uploaded to Files
Many of my clients upload supplier invoices directly to Xero, where they appear in the Files section.
Currently, when selecting an uploaded invoice and choosing Add to new → Bill, Xero creates a blank bill rather than extracting and pre‑filling the invoice details. In contrast, invoices received via Email to Bills are automatically processed and prefilled using OCR/AI.
It would be extremely helpful if invoices uploaded to Files could be processed in the same way, allowing Xero to prefill a new bill using AI or OCR. This would avoid the need to ask clients to change the email address they…5 votesHi Craig 👋, we've recently introduced Smart Document Capture which will achieve what you're after here!
Once you upload files Smart Document Capture will be able to analyse and create transactions on your behalf including invoices, bills, spend and receive monies.
This feature is currently available to all regions except NZ and AU which will be coming soon. 😊
I'll keep you updated once it's available to all users.

Invoicing - Add printable customer letter templates for overdue invoices
In Sage 50 Accounts Professional, we use the built-in PI Chase Letter functionality as an important part of our credit control process.
When an invoice reaches 30 days overdue, we print and post a PI Chase Letter 1. If we receive no response, we then print and post a PI Chase Letter 2. These letters are generated automatically using predefined templates, which we print on our company letterhead and send by post.
A key feature is that the letter includes an itemised summary of the customer's outstanding balance, showing:
Invoice number
Invoice date
Details/description
Amount outstanding
Total balance dueThis…
1 voteHi Molly, though we don't have intentions of developing the exact same functionality as competitors, we are working on a feature to help you get paid without having to chase.
You can register your interest for this now. You'll be able to turn this on for your preferred contacts. JAX will monitor open invoices and create a personalised plan for each customer.
Customers will receive a consolidated statement and a well timed nudge. 🙂

New Invoicing - Move Save button to bottom of invoice like classic
Please move the SAVE for the New invoicing to the bottom as per old invoicing. When you have an invoice with 30-50 items and then have to scroll back up to save it adds to the pressure of getting things done.
Or Better still
Leave the old there until you've got it together and your Paid subscribers are happy.
We are seriously looking at moving away from XERO due to all the changes you impose on us without proper UAT. More often than not it creates more work for us and causes more stress we just dont need in an…247 votesHi team, I know it's been some time since we last updated this idea. Please know we have close eyes on this feature and this is a change our product team are currently working on.
While we can't give a definite timeframe work is progressing well and we'll keep you updated of when this is available, here. Thanks for your engagement with us through product ideas.

Invoicing | Files - Ability to attach files before adding contact
This Function is Broken with New Invoicing - It does NOT create a new invoice with the file attached.
89 votesHi community, some time on from my last update we'd love to share further developments in this space with you here.
Since the rollout of our new Files inbox experience, our product teams are continue to enhance and grow out it's functionality across Xero.
For UK organisations we recently launched Smart document capture with intentions of rolling this out to all other regions soon. With Smart document capture Xero will automatically create documents for you to review from within Xero Files. So, while a contact will be required Xero will do a lot of the manual work for you and ensure the file remains attached to the created invoice 🙂
On the flip side we also have a team that is currently exploring how we might solve for wider needs around invoice details that are captured outside Xero and how to gets these in and automate the workflow for you.…

Invoice reminders - Custom date and time
Being able to customise the invoice reminder so it only goes through during business hours and during working days M-F.
46 votesHi community, to share another update to share around chasing customer invoice payments.
As you may have seen, we have work underway to help with getting paid without chasing.
The intention is that you'll have control of turning this on for your preferred contacts. JAX will create personalised follow-up plans based on each customer’s payment history, using the right channel, timing and tone to help get you paid.
You can register your interest in this feature now through the link above, and we'll keep you updated as this is delivered here.

Sales overview - Ability to customise and shift Billable expenses above Quotes
Sales tab - Love the "Billable Expenses", Needs to be above Quotes.
Need to be able to not bill them where I have a project invoice. Just assign the customer.7 votesHi team, thanks for your feedback on this idea. Our team are currently working on a refreshed Sales overview page which will soon be rolling out to customers. As part of this work they'll be solving for the idea here with Billable expenses sitting before Quotes. 😊

Invoice Reminders - Ability to send over due reminders from the Sales Overview Invoices page
Posting this again as admin totally missed the whole point in their response and gas lit the idea then closed the comments off like they had done something amazing.
Replying to the admin response:
Yes. Of course I am aware you can send automatic reminders and that is great if everyone is paying through a payment system and is automatically captured. Yet for businesses like mine where 99% of people are small businesses and pay by bank transfer, one must still manually go and consolidate payments. So automatically sending out reminders is redundant if you have to manually check everything…3 votesHi team, we appreciate the desire for simplifying overdue invoice follow-ups, especially when managing multiple invoices.
We'd like to share that we're currently developing a new chasing agent, which will help automate payment reminders and reduce manual follow-up.
Setup will initiate from the Sales Overview or a contact. Once enabled, reminders will automatically be sent to contacts with follow-ups enabled.
This allows us to automate follow-ups at scale rather than adding a manual option to select overdue invoices in Sales Overview and send reminders. We appreciate the detail you’ve shared about this workflow, and I'll round back to update again as this functionality is released. 😊

New Invoicing | Contact - Change default selection on tab from "add new"
Currently trying to use the new invoicing, but I'll start typing a contact name then tab across before seeing the contact pop up, since I use this contact daily. Under the old invoicing, it would just find the contact once I hit tab. Under the new invoicing, a new contact is created. And since the invoice is saved immediately, this new contact is also saved, so once I finish with the invoice, I then need to go and archive the contact that was created.
Can we change the defaults or something to fix this?
It does the same thing with…14 votesHi community, appreciate your feedback. Currently our team are working on some improvements to the To field in new invoicing and the contacts card that appears when selecting a contact. We understand some of our customers make use of the keyboard much more than the mouse and in reviewing the flow when using Tab the team will be making a change to make selection of a contact and movement to the date field smoother. I'll come back to confirm the detail of the change when this is released.

New Invoicing - Type the date manually, without / delimiters
It would be really useful to have a way of typing the date without having to use a / in between the numbers, like you could on classic invoicing
e.g. 20012024 used to convert automatically to 20th January 2024 on classic invoicing
45 votesThanks for your interest in this idea, everyone. We understand there are different ways our customers find useful when entering dates for invoices in Xero.
Based on feedback our team are looking at improvements to the date pickers in new invoicing. While I can't confirm exactly what these will entail atm, we'll shift the idea to working on it and I'll be back to confirm when we have more of the detail.

Invoicing - Show Delivery Address on invoices by default
Enable the option for invoices to by default display both billing and delivery addresses.
42 votesHi everyone, thanks for all the context you’ve shared on how this impacts your workflows. We understand how a simple in-product setting for showing delivery address on an invoice would improve efficiencies for you all here.
Currently, the best option remains to insert the ContactPhysicalAddress merge field/s with the use of an advanced invoice template.
However as part of a larger piece of work we’re doing to develop multiple addresses per contact within invoices, this is an idea we’ll be solving for.
We can’t provide definite timeframes but will shift to In development and share further news as it progresses with you all here!

Sales Invoice - Select and send multiple invoices on a single email
Send multiple invoices together on one email to the same customer with one 'pay now' button (e.g. for Stripe payment) rather than sending multiple emails which seem like spam to clients !
55 votesHi team, we'd like to provide an update here as there is work underway that will help met the requests here.
Right now, our team are developing a feature that helps you get paid without you needing to step in.
Once released you'll be able to turn this on for preferred contacts. JAX will monitor and build a personalised plan to chase customers at the right moment. This means some customers will receive a consolidated statement as asked here, meaning they aren't receiving multiple emails at once.
Sign up and register your interest now 🙂 I'll come back to share as this feature goes live.

Invoices - Automatically send invoice reminders for all overdue invoices
Seems a lapse in the system that you cannot send invoice reminders for over 60 days + for outstanding invoices
We have clients that still owe us money after 60 days and we have to manually review and resend, rather than the system just picking up that any invoice is outstanding / overdue and sending a reminder automatically
Would be nice if the system could just send an invoice reminder to any overdue invoice.18 votesHi everyone, we appreciate your support here in making overdue invoice follow-ups easier and more efficient.
We'd like to share that work is currently underway where soon you'll be able to use JAX to automatically generate and execute follow-up plans for overdue invoices across all eligible contacts, which will help reduce manual chasing and create a more consistent process for getting paid.
You can tune into recent updates through the long and short of it on our website, and I'll update you all here when this feature lands.

Invoice templates - Set defaults for show/hide fields
When creating/editing an invoice with the new style, you can select fields to show/hide. We would like to be able to change these and set the changes as default - at the moment you have to go in and select the ones you would like to see every time you are editing an invoice. The main one for us is the discount column - we would like to see this on every invoice. Having this functionality to show/hide is good, but just don't want to change this every time.
13 votesHi everyone, we appreciate your feedback on the show/hide fields option. As you may have seen in other updates we're working on a new line item grid that will encompass a few enhancements we know our customers want to see, and will also include an improvement to the behaviour of the show/hide fields so the options you select will be retained. I'll come back to confirm when this is released.

Invoice Payment- Stripe Partial payments
Ability to have partial payments through Stripe.
Purpose: Users can easily set up partial payment in one invoice rather than having to create separate invoices.
258 votesHi team, I’m back again as the ability to accept deposits with Stripe has been released to the majority of regions (UK, US, NZ, AU SG, and CA) with sights set to get this to 100% asap.
Additionally to the feature we first rolled out, we've now added a due date field that allows you to set a specific date you expect payment of the deposit to be received and will be visible when sent to your customer.
Thanks again for your involvement in the idea here and helping us evolve Xero to better suit the needs of our customers.

Sales Invoices - Allow to have column for backorders
To have a column of back orders/negative items within the Sales Invoices.
Purpose: Users can easily enter back ordered items rather than doing extra steps of adding 1 more item in their inventory.
117 votesHi team, I'm pleased to share that backorders capability is now in the process of rolling out to customers.
Once available in your org, you'll be able to approve sales invoices for tracked inventory even when there isn't enough available stock.
Your available stock will be allocated first, with the remaining quantity placed on backorder. As stock comes in it'll be automatically allocated to the oldest approved backorders.
You'll also see clearer inventory visibility through available quantity and backorder indicators in both your invoicing and inventory experience.
We'll keep monitoring feedback as availability expands, and I'll return to share another update once this is available to all users. Thanks!

Invoice Reminders - Increase # of reminders that can be set up
Hi,
Please can you allow more than 5 reminders, we chase to strict deadlines so 5 isn't enough. Does there need to be a limit?
Thanks
Ryan
41 votesThanks everyone, we appreciate you sharing how the five-reminder limit can be restrictive and result in more manual follows ups from your business.
We’re pleased to update that this idea is moving forward as part of our Get paid without chasing work.
As part of this development, JAX will create personalised follow-up plans based on each customer’s payment history, using the right channel, timing and tone to help get you paid.
These multi-step plans go well beyond the current 5-reminder limit, with persistent chasing until payment.
We’ll share more as this feature lands so you can begin to make use.

Invoices - Multiple due dates for payments/deposits along with the ability to offer trade terms
Ability to set up multiple due dates for payments/deposits.
Purpose: payments and deposits can be spread throughout different dates.
201 votesHi everyone, thanks for continuing to share the details behind your workflows here. We wanted to return with a meaningful step forward for this idea. As some users may have seen, we’ve released the ability to request a Deposit in Xero!
Enveloped in this we recently made an improvement to this so businesses can now set a specific due date when creating a new deposit, and that due date is shown clearly on the deposit request your customer receives.
We appreciate this doesn’t yet deliver the fuller outcome many of you describe here, such as multiple due dates across a full invoice, broader instalment-style payment schedules, or trade-term arrangements on a single invoice. But it's progress in this space.
I’ll be back to confirm once Deposits is completely released to all markets and share how we plan to evolve this further.
-
Sales Invoices - Issue progress payments on invoices for project/instalment
Ability to issue progress payments on quotes /invoices to percentage claim certain items or expenses.
Purpose: Users can see the progress of the payments from their customer just from one invoice instead of sending separate invoices.
248 votesThanks for everyone’s continued support in this idea. We’d like to update here that accepting a deposit on an invoice is now live to all organisations that use Stripe in AU, NZ, UK, US, CA and SG with remaining regions soon to come.
We know this doesn’t yet cover fuller progress-payment and instalment workflows, and we recognise those are important for many of you. We’ll keep returning here with more news as work in this space evolves.
