Hi community, we understand there are differing needs in this idea for why you’d like a separate posting date alongside the invoice or bill date. Whether it’s for reporting, compliance, or just a more accurate view of when things happened.

While this has been carefully considered, we want to be transparent with everyone here, that this is not something we have plans for developing in the near term.

We know given the interest in this that this is not the update you’re hoping for, and please know that we’ll continue to track votes this idea receives for future consideration. We’ll keep you posted if things change down the line.

find it strange why xero didnt have this feature. Sales are supposed to be posted to the month that services/goods are delivered according to most accounting regulations (accrual basis) . Without any posting date, my sales are recorded in Xero in the next following month as that is when i issue my invoices after completing the whole month. So now in xero , i have to keep reversing my sales to manually enter into the correct month when my services was delivered. its a lot of work with so many invoices. if this is not implemented, ill need to move on to another system that provide such feature as i dont have the time to always doing the reversals

    Dear Xero Team

I have been using Xero for a year but because Xero does not have a posting date for my invoices, every month end closing, i will have to do manual journal entries for all my sales. Its getting too much for me! This is a basic essential every accounting system must have. ... pls get this up ....if not i will have to look at other alternatives!
