Hi team, thank you for the detail in the flows you have when trading that create the need in being able to create a credit note from a paid invoice in Xero.

While this isn't a feature we have planned for development, it'll be good to keep tracking the interest from our community. We will share if there are any updates.

Thanks for everyone’s feedback and detail on how important this feature is for your businesses.

To provide a little more clarity here, it’s currently possible to create a Credit note within an individual awaiting payment invoice or bill. This’ll copy the contents of the invoice/bill into a Draft Credit note where you can edit if needed. To save many users time, once approved the credit is auto applied to the related invoice or bill, but you can remove this if not applicable.

We appreciate this feature is not available for a Paid Invoice or Bill and we understand the importance of this for some organisations.

To help our product teams get a better view of the interest for the feature in Bills and Invoices it would help to track these through separate ideas - I’ll change the title of this idea to reflect Bills and we have an existing idea

Hi everyone, we wanted to return and give you an update here. As mentioned in our last post - we want to be forth right that we don't have any plans to remove 'Powered by Xero' from emails sent from Xero, with intentional purpose and based on findings from interactions we can see having true benefit to customers in getting paid faster.

That said, we appreciate the feedback we've received and have made changes since this was initially raised to reduce the size of the footer where this is shown and have removed the hyperlink to xero.com. We will continue to develop the invoice email to continue to drive improvements for our customers and the ways you receive payments.

At the beginning of January 2024, I requested that the "Powered by Xero" branding be removed from our emails and left a comment here at the request of Xero support. Following this, it was removed. However, yesterday, without warning, it has returned.

I imagine this may have affected other customers in the same situation, so posting it here to raise awareness.

I am sorry to say, but that is a poor response from Admin on this.

Our customers trust emails from us, not ones that look like they are coming from third-party accounting software. How long before scammers jump on the generic Xero-branded emails? At least with our solo-branding and customisation, there is something unique to our emails that they can recognise and trust.

As stated below, if the key reason behind this is trust, let us make that decision and make it an option - include your 'data' and source on the trust benefits by the toggle button if you wish, just don't make it mandatory if you want Xero customers to 'trust' your intentions.

Instead, focus on allowing the option for emails to be sent from our trusted company domains. If you believe this affects open rates, then again let this be our decision to make.

I emailed Xero support to request for this to be removed and they asked me to give feedback here on Xero Product Ideas, following which they could then action my request. In their response, they said: "...this implementation is a transient state while we move to a V2 email experience that has a more subtle implementation of this concept."

I want to strongly suggest that even a subtle implementation of this concept goes too far. I would be disappointed to see anything like this become mandatory (or even the default setting) on paid tiers. It is unprofessional enough not to be able to send emails from your company domain, never mind having something else promoting Xero in the email body like a logo or some mandatory text.

I would like to vote for nothing other than the option to completely remove any reference to Xero in email communications and I expect many users would feel the same.

It is enough to push you to another accounting package, that allows you to present your company more professionally. Imagine if every Microsoft Word document you created, or email you sent from Outlook, said "Powered by Microsoft" in the footer and this couldn't even be removed. This is disappointing from Xero.
