Appreciate your input here, everyone. Our team is aware of the challenges our partners are facing around the auto-reversal of negative balance. It’s on their roadmap to investigate and provide a better user experience.

Completely agree. This would help to replace programs like IRIS Docs.

We are having the same issue here. Provision for doubtful debts is a negative figure in debtors due to being a reduction in assets and so a credit balance and so should sit as a reduction of trade debtors.
However, the Xero support agent believes it is correct to have it sitting in creditors. This leads the assets and liabilities to both be overstated by the bad debt provision.
It is deeply worrying that the agent thinks this is all fine and Xero tax is working as intended when this is a misstatement on the accounts.
As another has stated here, this should be a top priority to fix as it is producing incorrect financial statements.
