I would love to have the ability to define and enforce firm-wide custom file naming conventions for reports generated using custom templates within Practice Reporting and Xero HQ.

Currently, exported reports are named using a generic default (e.g., CompanyName_ReportName.pdf), with no option to set naming rules at the firm-level. For firms managing multiple clients and maintaining standardized file systems, this can create inconsistency.

My ideal solution would allow each custom report template to include a predefined naming convention which would be applied automatically when reports are exported.

    For example, we prefer:

    Balance Sheet MM.YY – ClientName
Income Statement MoM MM.YY – ClientName
    Income Statement MM.YY – ClientName

To do so, a setting within custom templates to define default file naming rules would be ideal. I'd like to see the use of variables like {Month}, {Year}, {ClientName}, etc. and the option to override or adjust at the report level when needed, but default to the template's naming logic.

This feature would improve consistency and save time during report exports, and I believe it would add significant value to other accounting practices working at scale, too.
