    Hi team we appreciate the feedback and interest in adding the Tracking Summary report to Report Templates here. Being upfront this isn't something we have plans for.

    However, we've made a recent update to enable you to adding a custom Tracking Summary report to Adviser packs which may meet some of the needs here.

    I see there's also been mentions in this thread of users that'd like to add payroll report to report templates and I wanted to highlight this idea that I'd recommend adding your vote for if of interest. Thanks!

  2. When using a custom Profit & Loss report in a set of Financial Statements, you are unable to format formulas to be in bold or underlined. It would be beneficial from a visibility perspective to have these in bold, so they stand out as formulas.

    Can this be updated so to enable formatting at this level.

  3. Hi Xero Team,

    We are in the process of registering Xero as our Computerized Books of Accounts with the BIR. In line with this, we would like to share some suggestions that may help Xero meet the BIR requirements.

    For report generation, it would be helpful if the footer could include:

    The type of book,

    A timestamp and date,

    The name of the person who generated the report, and

    The software version number.

    At present, the footer only shows the date and type of report. Adding the generator’s name, exact time, and version number would make the reports more aligned…

    Please note Xero operates on a continuous delivery model, which means we're constantly updating and improving our software. Unlike traditional software Xero doesn't have version numbers or release dates so we are unable to provide this information.

  4. Suggested improvements to Receivable Invoice Detail - Top Customers report.

    The definition of this report is attached. It provides a list of sales invoices and credit notes by contact.

    If a customer has an overpayment on their account, the report incorrectly treats this cash payment as a sales credit note and reduces the customer's sales figure by the overpayment. Please can this report be corrected to only include sales invoices and sales credit notes? Thank you.

  5. AU – Month-to-Month Payroll Transaction Variance Report

    The current Payroll Activity Summary and Payroll Activity Details reports don’t allow for an easy comparison between two months (e.g., current vs previous). Because of the way the data is structured, it’s quite difficult to compare pay components without doing significant manual adjustments and re-ordering.

    A built-in Payroll Variance Report that shows month-to-month differences for each pay component would be extremely beneficial for payroll people.

    Thanks for submitting this idea. We've reviewed your request and classified it as Gaining Support, meaning it is now open for other community members to vote on.

    We appreciate that while you can currently download reports for individual pay runs, comparing two distinct periods to spot discrepancies requires significant manual review or manipulation outside of Xero.

    A dedicated variance report would certainly be a valuable time-saver.

  6. One of the key steps in preparing client financials is to ensure accounts, especially newly added ones, are assigned to the correct report code. I had the favourited on every client in the old navigation for quick access as it's something I need almost every time. It'd like that back.

  8. New Tracking Report has no summary option - the existing summary option will be retired in November meaning more work will be involved in manually working out the summary balance for each tracked item. Please give a summary option similar to "old" report that is being retired.

  9. One thing I really like in the new Organisation menu is the search bar. When you click the organisation name, the cursor automatically lands in the search field, so you can start typing straight away. It makes switching between orgs quick and seamless.

    It’d be great to see this same experience in the new Reporting menu. Favouriting reports is useful, but it doesn’t cover every scenario. For power users, being able to click into the Reporting menu and have the cursor automatically placed in a search field - just like in the Organisation menu - would make it much faster…

  11. The current Tracking Summary Report is quite inflexible. I'm unable to filter by Account Code, edit the report layout, nor save as a custom report. It would be good if this report design could be refreshed to include these features, and to bring the report inline with the newer style reports.

  12. For the report templates, would it be possible to include a tax computation as part of the Annual Financial Statements? This schedule would show the income tax calculation for the year as well as the resulting tax asset or liability at year-end.

  13. AU There was a discrepancy between GST ac balance at EOQ on the Balance Sheet & the GST refund for the end of quarter BAS. Using the GST Reconciliation report would be a lot more helpful if the Filed Amounts could actually be saved and continuously show the correct unfiled running balance amount and the section "GST Account Summary " for unfiled GST was actually correct as a cumulative balance. I just did 3.5 years worth of GST Reconciliations and nothing saved so all the running balances are wrong and don't flow correctly from one year to the next -…

    Thank you for your candid feedback and engagement on this idea. The good news is we're actively working on a complete rebuild of this report on our new reporting platform ✨. This project is a top priority and is specifically designed to solve the issues you've raised. The new report will automatically pull in filed return amounts, allow you to drill down into transactions, and always show a correct, cumulative unfiled balance. We're in the development phase, and we’re also actively gathering feedback on the ability to make manual adjustments in the new report, which we know is a critical requirement. We are committed to delivering a report that makes this essential part of your workflow easier and more reliable. We'll be back with another update as we make progress 😊

  14. Auto add GST payment/refund to Short-term cashflow report. Currently I have to review the GST return to get the payment/refund figure then add this manually to the cashflow.

  16. I would like to request improvements to the Journal Report to make it more user-friendly for accountants and bookkeepers.
    Currently, reversal journals and their original entries appear together, which makes the report difficult to read and slows down review during month-end and year-end close.
    Please consider adding these enhancements:
    1. Preferred enhancement: Reversal Filters
    Please add filter options to control visibility of reversal-related journals:
    • Show or hide original journals
    • Show or hide reversal journals
    • View only normal (non-reversal) journals
    This would keep the full audit trail intact, but make the report much cleaner and easier to analyze.…

  17. Hi, it would be amazing to have the ability to delete certain line items to create custom reports (eg - Profit and Loss). I currently need to export the full report into excel and manually delete the lines, but would be nice to have the option to do this in Xero custom reports

  18. Can the list of favourite reports be set to default to always include the Trial balance (at least with Advisor rights). As an accountant I always run a Trial balance report and have to manually set this as a favourite on every client I log into. I also regularly use the accountant transaction report and Aged payables and receivables which are already default favourites.

  19. It would be great to be able to hide formula rows in reports where the result is a nil balance. Currently we get multiple repetitive total lines on reports when there is no activity cluttering up the reports unnecessarily.

    Hi Kerrin, thanks for raising this. It’s easy to see how automatically hiding custom formula rows with no activity would make reports cleaner and easier to read.

    Without this option, reports can feel cluttered. That often means sharing something that looks busier than it needs to be, or exporting the report just to remove empty rows manually—extra work that defeats the purpose of using the report builder.

    I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand interest in more report-level formatting options. If you’re able to comment with the specific reports where this would be most useful, it’ll help other users understand the use case and help the idea gain traction.

  20. When reviewing quarterly and annual figures from the Profit and Loss report’s account transactions, we currently have to click into each Xero Me app expense to see the description and confirm it’s coded correctly. Expenses entered via bank feeds or bills display descriptions properly in the Account Transactions report, but Xero Me submissions do not.

    This inconsistency makes it difficult to quickly identify and verify transactions without drilling into each one. Competing platforms such as MYOB, QuickBooks, and HandiLedger display expense descriptions consistently, regardless of how the expense was entered.
