Hi everyone, thanks for your continued feedback about managing working patterns for part-time employees.

We’re pleased to share that we plan to begin rolling out working patterns in AU Payroll later this year.

The first release will allow you to set a one-week work pattern for each employee. This pattern will automatically be used for leave and public holiday calculations in the pay run. At this stage, you’ll still need to update the employee’s pay template separately to reflect their standard working hours.

We plan to build on this foundation by connecting working patterns with standard hours in the pay run and supporting a broader range of working patterns. We’ll share more details as the first release gets closer.

This is great news, however if this is already something used in NZ why is that not able to be integrated into the Australian Xero?

Yes we have the same issue. Part time employees and Full Time who take an RDO over a fortnight or over 2 fortnights. So they work 8 x 8.5 hours and 1 x 8 hours and have a RDO on the 10th day. For annual leave and public holidays it doesn't work it out correctly. Very frustrating. Also Part time employees some work mondays and not fridays and some work a 5 day fortnight. This would be very helpful to have the option for Xero to work it out instead of having to do manually. Especially when someone else is doing my job when on holidays they not necessarily across this as I am.
