Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on automating leave provisions. Currently Xero does not automatically include leave liabilities on the Balance Sheet. Some of you have mentioned workarounds such as reviewing the Leave Balances Report and creating Manual Journals to include the liability in your reporting.

While we’re dedicated to streamlining payroll calculations, our product team confirmed this specific idea isn't on our foreseeable roadmap. We’ll be updating the status to Not in pipeline. The idea will remain open for votes so we can continue to monitor community interest.

    Automatic Provisions for Employee Entitlements

It would be highly beneficial if Xero could automatically generate accounting provisions for employee entitlements such as:

    Annual leave

    Personal/carer’s leave

    Long service leave

Based on the payroll accruals already calculated within the system, Xero could automatically post monthly journals to recognise the provision expense and liability in the general ledger.

Currently, many businesses must calculate and post these provisions manually, which increases the risk of errors and inconsistencies. Automating this process would significantly improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with accounting standards.

Hi everyone, we'd like to return with an update for all who've supported the idea for attaching files within Payroll.

As we develop foundations of payroll to enable us to consider new features like this, we're beginning discovery of how we might build this capability and when this could be planned in our roadmap.

This is just the initial stages of diving deeper into this work, but steering in the right direction.

I'll be sure to share any progression around attachments within payroll with you all, here.

I would like to suggest adding an “Attach Files” feature within the employee profile section in Xero Payroll.

Currently, there is no centralised place within each employee’s record to upload and store key employment documents. It would be extremely helpful if we could attach files such as:

Tax File Number (TFN) Declaration forms

    Superannuation Standard Choice Forms

    Employment contracts

    Identification documents

    Other onboarding documentation

Having these documents stored directly within the employee profile would improve record-keeping, compliance, and audit readiness. It would also reduce the need to maintain separate document management systems for payroll-related files.
